If you set a relay to un-power the GM then it would drop to wastegate pressure.

So despite this "plug&play" feature, we still need to install 3 bar Map sensor first in order to control the boost? or does this the fact that this solenoid gets hooked up directly with the ECU means just the appropriate ROM mod is required to control boost pressure?

tks

JDM map is not required to control boost with an aftermarket solenoid. Proper tuning is. No rom mod is necessary other than changing the duty cycle from 100% to the correct value for the boost that you want to run. The ability to log boost is something that's nice but not essential. The Evo ECU is scaled to MAF load, not boost.

But with the JDM map you can utilize direct map boost control, based off of pressure read from the jdm map to target the boost level no matter what the conditions are outside..

Yes, that's true and it's the method I use. But it's not necessary.

The stock system is already closed loop, it uses the stock load detector (MAF) instead of the JDM map sensor. It's tunable. If it's good enough for ignition and fuel it's good enough for boost too .

Speed density has an IAT sensor along with the MAP sensor to measure air density. A MAF sensor measures airflow a different way and has an integrated IAT sensor.

Has anyone contacted colby about just buying the plugs from him. I will ask him if no one already has. This way I can make my own plug and play harness for my MAC valve.

I posted in both of the other threads that there is a connector you can pull off of DSMs/GVR4s/Evos and most other mitsus to use as a plug 'n play for any other 2 wire solution. Just look in my post history to find all of the info about it (I think I posted in the gm 3-port thread). Most junk yards will let you get to it for less than $5.

If you are looking on an evo its the connector on the hardline right outside the "window" on the AC system.

I have it installed on my car with the AEM solenoid from a tru-boost and it works great.

Update - after several email back and forth with tactrix they are refusing to sell the connector indavidually and will not even give me their manufacturer or any information whatsoever about the connector. I think we will have to look else where to track this part down.

It works great, we've done it that way in track cars with no issues over two seasons now.
You can take a stock mini fuse and trim the plastic off and remove the legs. Then solder the GM 3 port piggytails to the legs. These will now push into the factory BCS plug. What I did was removed the factory plug cover, slipped 1" of heatshrink down each wire, and pushed the fuse legs into this. Heat shrink it up, loom it up, and it holds great, looks great, and you can put it back to stock easy enough.

OT. Did you see the PM from me about GST's intake air filters?

Really, I'm not joking when I say that the plug I'm talking about is the _EXACT_ plug you are looking for. Here, I even dug up the links for you:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...2&postcount=53

They are plentiful and cheap and are a perfect, exact, OE match if you are willing to spend 5 min hacking it.

This looks interesting... is anyone using this piece yet? I realize it's one of the more expensive options but plug and play sounds nice right now.

Just to clarify... I hook this unit up and the alt map will switch my boost? The JDM boost sensor is not required (I'm using a GM sensor anyways). Sorry for the ignorance... I've fallen behind with this stuff.

Indeed.

The part # is MR250683, about $32 or so. I have a couple here and they do work. It's just BYOP.
