Have you brought it over the 2800rpms? Does the knock still stay at 10? increase or decrease?

It might because this sounds like more of a mechanical issue dealing with phantom knock. Under normal circumstances I would say it's phantom, but since this guy is saying he flashed some generic-type map with cams and lifters that weren't bled, it's very possible it's real knock and he should've tried removing timing first before posting his problem here.

ok a friend and i were just having a general look around the engine bay today and found that there was a big crack between my header pipes and the flange to the engine..... i started the car and at idle could hear an exhaust leek and even see the gas's coming out...

i read on another post that this might be the poss cause of knock..... is this correct????

also is it safe to drive the car around with the new cams installed without a tune??? i just fitted a new clutch so i want to run it in before i tune it... as long as i dont boost and just baby it that should be ok????

suggestions please
