The ACD computer has maps just like the engine ECU. You can tune the maps to be more aggressive and dial in the locking response of the center diff.

nice sounds interesting....

what are the downsides of this? any wear and tear on the center diff, etc?

Obviously more stress on the drivetrain, but likely no difference in wear. In a road racing situation I don't see any downsides really, but drag racers might be more likely to snap something on a launch.

check out what the MOTEC can do - hopefully we can add some more features

Also the RA upgrade supposedly wears the clutch packs quicker...

But, how fast do the clutch pack wear normally?

Being able to go full lock for launching should not wear the clutch packs at all...In fact it should wear them les...although it may break more drivetrains parts.

This may be the reason the ACD TCs dont break as much as the non ACD TCs.

If you unplug the AYC its fully open so you'll get one wheel spinning.... thats sucks even worse.... i wish there was a way to lock the ayc with the computer...

teph this is what your wanting to do as well correct?? or at least control the split??

For drag racers:

Going full open or full lock is the best ways to prevent breakage. One of the bad things about the ACD is you can easily spin the fronts on a hard launch with an unmodded ACD. The computer then tries to lock up the ACD, causing the TX to fail. Sometimes it will push the gears into the transmission damaging the transmission.

Going full lock should help the fronts from breaking free from the rear.

Going full open will reduce traction but should be fairly easy on the rear end and TX case. However if you wheel hop its every bit as bad, or worse than any other option.

So it will be great to have the ability to flash the ACD for drag racers to make the drivetrain more reliable.

you are correct the AYC is not on permanently.... AYC controls the traction (power) to each rear wheel. when the AYC is not engaging the rear diff is open like an ordinary RWD (without LSD) SO if you unplug the computer there is nothing controlling the power to each wheel, so the wheel with the least amount of load will spin and the other wheel will get nadda!!! (or very little)

IF however you were able to control the AYC ecu you could tell it to be actively splitting 50% power to each wheel 100% of the time to keep it locked or under certain load conditions etc..... (in theory)

If im wrong please let me know.....
