"Logged Timing" deviating from Timing Map, every log, every time it does, it KNOCKS!!
Wait...so he thinks the rings are more likely than a sticking PCV valve!? Get another shop dude..they want you to pay for more diagnostics. Granted, a compression test is always good to do anyhow but with your symptoms I certainly would look into the CHEAP and most COMMON solution, not the most expensive, least likely. Trust me, a sticking PCV valve will allow a LOT of pressure in your crankcase (my stocker failed this summer and flooded my turbo with oil).
Oil catch cans certainly help but that has nothing to do with oil coming out of your filler cap! Thats a sh!tload of blowby to do that...oh wait, they probably want to sell you one of their catch cans while your there too. This is why its good to start teaching yourself how to do the small things like a boost leak test on your own. comes in handy.

wow I went from a good customer, to a whiner/**** talker, because I had to source out the problem myself... So I took your advice and found myself another shop... Its a bit of a drive, but should be well worth it... I liked the customer service so much that I decided to let him tune the car as well...
Thanks again Jamie, can I call ya Jamie...
I spoke to another shop, told him my issue, he then confirmed your diagnosis, told me he would have not only 2 PCV valves, just in case, but he would also get a gasket for the cap, just in case. This is what I expect from a shop, and dont think Im asking too much! I have gone from worrying about my car, to being excited about fixing/tuning the car! a happy car fully tuned! I have been learning to tune myself, but will chalk this up to another learning experience from another tuner... I'll post up my experience...
on another note I have been driving my moms second car... 99 cadillac sts. freaking boat...lol handles like a ship on sea... Sux ***! But it will be soo much fun once I get back into my Evo...cant wait! On the other hand, I do love the fact that I can drive this car and feel like Im under the radar, not have to be on the lookout 24/7...

is I have found that other brands have been known to fail very fast or not hold boost from day one. I've had very good luck with the Mitsu PCV valves over anything else.
So he is ordering the PCV valve for you from the dealer and also is getting a spare? Reason i suggest getting one from Mitsu

Yes I was told he will be ordering an OEM peice from the dealer. I think hes getting 2, extra for the shop maybe, just incase, maybe I'll take it off his hands, in case I encounter this again... Shouldnt be more than a few bucks right? well more than 3, but you get my point...

I think mine was around $12 actually. Can't recall what they go for. One should last a good 20-30k miles IMO.
Have the shop do a boost leak test again and then install the new PCV valve to be sure you still aren't pressurizing the crankcase somehow. Odds are good you'll be back on track and if its a good shop they'll be able to help you track down any other issues and help you fix 'em all up in a jiffy.

The PVC is the metal piece connected to the plastic looking L shaped piece. To remove it you need a deep socket 14mm. btw, the service guy recommended changing the PVC every 20K or so.
No Solution for no Problem... ???
I went down there 2 hour plus drive, and did the leak test and a compression test... No leaks, and compression was 135 / 142 / 142 / 142. How bad is this for an 06 IX w/ under 11,000 miles? I cleaned off the valve cover before I went up there, did some short spirts to see if "it" would happen again... Well when I showed up @ the shop, he got right to it, and said theres nothing wrong w/ it, nor is it leaking! Got it on the dyno 20 + pulls and no leakage! IDK
I am very dissapointed in the "TUNE"! I sent him a message reguarding this, so I will wait to see what he has to say, before I speak on it, but WOW!
I did get the GM BCS installed!
and I now know where the PCV valve is located... Right infront of my damn face...

Good to know. Hopefully I will have one by then...
