Hey Todd,

Is it possible to get below -20 on the 25570100 (ceddymod) rom?

I can get mine to -20 but have seen Ceddy himself post on few forums that -27 should be possible.

heres the last few lines I used in the XML to get -20

<scaling name="TimingMUT" units="degrees" toexpr="x-20" frexpr="x+20" format="%.0f" min="-20" max="60" inc="1" storagetype="uint8" endian="big"/>
<table name="Ignition Retard Limit" address="25813" category="Timing" type="1D" level="2" scaling="TimingMUT"/>
<table name="Ignition Advance Limit" address="25810" category="Timing" type="1D" level="2" scaling="TimingMUT"/>
</rom>

90550001:
Code:

<table name="Ignition Advance Limit" address="1631f" category="Timing" type="1D" level="2" scaling="TimingMUT" />
Can confirm this also works for 90550701, tested with -15deg and had no issues

A question regarding retard with a GTA auto. My GTA shows -1deg of retard between gears at wot. Is it ign retard because of knock/shock?
I was thinking with spark retard, I could set even higher pres between gears and the retard time would cancel the shock
But I'm thinking it would make my gear shift time worse/longer if drag racing. Open to your thoughts!

It`s ok on a full load. All ecu use this for torque reduction

I have a JDM Evo 8 with the 96530706 tephra ROM.
I am trying to retard my timing beyond the stock lower limit (-10 degrees). I have added the following patch code to the 96530706 tephra XML.

<scaling name="TimingMUT" units="degrees" toexpr="x-20" frexpr="x+20" format="%.0f" min="-20" max="60" inc="1" storagetype="uint8" endian="big" />

<table name="Ignition Retard Limit" address="1813d" category="Timing" type="1D" level="2" scaling="TimingMUT" />
<table name="Ignition Advance Limit" address="1813f" category="Timing" type="1D" level="2" scaling="TimingMUT" />

In the tables I changed the ignition retard limit to -20. Went ahead to the map and changed the timing in the respective timing cells to -20 as well. Flashed the ROM. Logged using evoscan. The lowest timing retard that I can see is still -10.

What am I doing wrong here.?

That's sad mate... My original ROM was 93660005. I swapped for 9653 V7. So is there any other ROM that may help me to retard the timing so that I can get a decent pops and bang setup?

I advise not to use pops and bangs because they will destroy your turbo - don't ask how I found that one out .

I was on the wall about that... Then in the forums many had said that they are having it for years with no impacts. So I thought of trying it for the fun of it in the alt map.

But yeah I do understand the point you are making and the risk of it.

I'm not sure where you got those addresses from but the two retard limit addresses for 9563 are 0x2438 and 0x173e. Also the scaling is not TimingMUT, it's "IgnTimingECUa" with toexpr= 61-x*90/256 and frexpr= (61-x)*256/90.

So I should try with the following patch?

<scaling name="IgnTimingECUa" units="deg" toexpr="61-x*90/256" frexpr="(61-x)*256/90" format="%.1f" min="-30" max="50" inc="1" storagetype="uint16" endian="big"/>
<table name="Ignition Retard Limit #1" category="Timing" address="2438" type="1D" level="1" scaling="IgnTimingECUa"/>
<table name="Ignition Retard Limit #2" category="Timing" address="173e" type="1D" level="1" scaling="IgnTimingECUa"/>
