my LC1 is pissing me off!

hey guys my LC1 is making me really mad. just recently i got the ' error 8 ' code so i figured if i recalibrated the sensor it would work fine. so i did (took the whole thing out) and it worked fine for the first log. then it started doin the error 8 code again.

now when i fire it up (log works or evoscan) the sensor doesnt connect or just stays on '0'. its qutie annoying and i've been reading about some of the other users have problems with their LC1's and their RMA's and well yea, im hoping that not the case.

anyway have any ideas?

LC1 (w/o guage, had it for about over a year now and just now starting to act up)
firmware: 1.10
sensor is brand new. (my other one broke so i just replaced this one like about 2 months ago)

did you try running it in logwaorks? Is it set for Gasoline? Maybe you should check your grounds.

try updating the firmware, resetting calibration in logworks, and doing free air calibration.

see what that does.

Innovate suffers from two big thorns

1, the need for a well thought out instillation with perfect execution,
the ability to read and comprehend instructions, and follow them (what male is good at that?)

2, they had a batch of units that were faulty.

So yes, it takes a person with a hobbiest mentality to get one working. Or at least the perception that it won't work unless you do everything just so. I really understand the frustration of those who got (1) right but got a number 2 unit.

If you get beyond the two issues above, it is fine piece of equipment far exceeding the needs and uses we put it through.*

Just re-install the most recent firmware, as if you were upgrading. This resolved a problem I had where the LC-1 got itself into a very inconsistent state for me.

That being said, it was user error: I had borrowed power from the cigarette lighter, and when I had my laptop power being drawn from there, the LC-1 had a VERY bad day. You really need clean, consistent power and ground for the LC-1 to operate as expected.

Mine works just fine! The lc-1 module is by the power steering tank, the wires run thru the fire wall passenger side, all the connections are made to the ecu main harness. All connections are soldered. There is a good chassis ground their too. Has worked fine for almost a year. I lost cal data once b/c un-plugging data connection while data logging. but a free-air restored it. Have had a few error codes if i dont let the warm-up go 100% It will stop at 99% for about 30 seconds, but once my gauge starts reading like 20.0AFR then i will start the engine. NOT BEFORE! I dunno, i think the lc-1 is the best/cheapest solution around, the 2 programmable analog outs are a dream. I can run a gauge and simulate the narrowband sensor. (and change the narrow band heh.. I cruse at ~15.8 afr.. MPG^^^)

Had LC1 for 2 years with no E8, then it died during a firmware load.

Try a much longer heater cal.

The E8 is just safety feature to keep the sensor from overheating which can be false triggered at times from excessive fuel
