weird issue w/ ZT2 lcd screen
weird issue w/ ZT2 lcd screen
So every morning I warm up my car via remote start. And yesterday morning, I jumped in looked at my lcd and noticed my AFR was reading 15.2 - 15.6 (at idle).
and no I have not implemented the open loop mod.
I thought maybe it just needed to warm up a bit longer... Drove to work and checked it at every stop. While cruising it reads perfectly 14.7 - 14.9. But it was still reading a bit high till about half way to work (@ idle) , then by the time I got to work, it started reading normal at idle...
Well today, I do my normal routine, jump in my car this morning, and my lcd is reading 15 - 16 - 17 - even 18.x AFR (@ idle), but reads fine while cruising... Did some pulls last weekend, and everything was fine under WOT...
Do I have a boost leak, or something?
TIA

Could be an exhaust leak. When the pipes warm up and expand, the leak might resolve itself and then your wideband reads accurately again.
EDIT: Also, check your fuel trims when you have the lean wideband readings at idle. If they look normal, then you know that it's a wideband issue and not a tuning issue. Of course, that's assuming that your OEM O2 is working okay.

I started up the car this morning, and noticed a whistling sound coming from the upper/middle to right hand side of the engine bay (facing the engine bay). I couldnt pinpoint it. I went to check the lcd screen and it was reading fine @ idle, and by the time I got back to the engine bay, the whistling went away. or I just got used to it...
evo8ltw, good idea, will do.
so far the suggestions that I have gotten are :
possibly faulty sensor (dont think so) but will check last
o rings on the injectors
O2 gaskets
TB shaft seals
Check vac lines to EGR hose, this is a common problem with the vac hose popping off the EGR since it is not barbed.
regular boost leak/exhaust leak
I appreciate the input, as I need help narrowing this down!

Boost leak will affect trims and open loop AFR's. When it comes to closed loop, O2 would make you idle at 14.7 AFR anyway. So most likely this aint it. It never hurts to do a boost leak test though
BTW, you're sure you're in closed loop when this happens? It could be your O2 feedback doesnt work until you start driving, so it idles in open loop and it's just not tuned at idle?
