5th gear issue (tephra v.6) log/maps up

ok so I have been tinkering w/ the new tephra v.6 gear dependent boost control, and today on the highway, in 5th gear, cruising, decided to go WOT and see what would happen. Started a lil early (3400) I know, but I wanted to tune for this as well. Had some major issues. Im not even sure whats going on. It felt like I was overboosting (majorly) and and it was trying to correct for it. My boost reads way lower than my map, and never exceeds 19 psi, and boosterror reads overboost by the max, but my corrections is reading 0. I have other logs that confirm corrections is working, and 1st - 4th seems fine! Heres a SS of this log, its crazy! Im hoping its just something like Im overboosting more than I have in my corrections... I have never seen a log like this. TPS/RPM/WGDC/LOAD/BOOST/ERROR/WB/KNOCK/TIMING/CORRECTION

I was gonna lower WGDC to like 60% all the way, and see if its just overboosting.
Any ideas?
TIA

First off... did you ever actually log and configure your RPM/speed compensation?
2) You should log gear if you are having problems to make sure you are calculating the correct gear. It may also help to set 6th gear the same as 5.
3) Check your Direct boost control mods to make sure they were done correctly
4) Check the MUT you are requesting and what it is set to. Make sure it is what you are expecting (boost error, correction, etc)
5) Make sure your boost adder is correct
6) I think you may need even lower WGDC than that to prevent overboost in 5th.
7) You should not be requesting the same amount of boost for each gear. That is why there is now more than 1 row!

1. no I havent. I Dont have an understanding of this table, yet and left it stock.
2. I didnt think of that. Will do!
3.
4. MUT table 8a=6EE3, MUT 8b=6EE9
5. boost adder is 14.3
6. Im gonna try 50% and see how she does... It sounds like the intake is clogged and choking... I'll try extending out to 6th, and lower the WGDC even more...
7. My boost tables are untuned yet, did a couple pulls in second/3rd, and made some small corrections, but havent gotten serious about it. Was gonna get busy today, but ran into the same issue @ 60%. Im starting to think Im getting ahead of myself... and should maybe wait till I have a better understanding of all the new stuff. But I hate quitting... I need to learn! more, more

when I ran into this issue, I wasnt sure if it was tephra related, but it appears Im neglecting some things in the tuning process??? so Im gonna link this to the tephra v.6 testing thread... I just caught up on some things...

heres the new changes...

how exactly do you compute for the rpm/mile value? is there a math formula to use?

there is a formula,

but the easiest way is (in my V6) to just log the current value for each gear.. then use those values IN your gear mapping table...

Had nothing to do w/ tephra v.6!

well, turns out (thankfully) that I was just over boosting (like 10%) throughout the entire pull... I have lowered duty cycle and been slowly working my way back into range, and the logs look like things are logging properly once again. (w/ out missing sections)

Now I have another small (tuning) issue... 5th gear, anywhere between 2500 - 4000 rpm I go WOT, instant 6 - 8 counts, during spool up, and kills the entire pull... IM not sure if its fuel or timing related? Both look reasonable. I'll keep at it. I do my pulls on the way to work in the morning...

andrew: are you referring to the rpm/speed to gear table? I copied from fostytou in the v.6 testing thread. (thanks fostytou) I dont understand this table and a few of the new tables, and should probobly be waiting till the more advanced peeps get it all worked out. BUT the gear dependent boost control is just too alluring!

In the first post of the V6 thread there are evoscan defs for logging calculated gear (IE where the ECU thinks you are in that table) and the rpm/kph. Just log both with a quick row through each full gear and you will see what gear the mod *thinks* you are in and what value goes along with it. You can then throw out the outliers and use the average of these values to pick your gears relation to RPM/kph.

It sounds like your problems are worked out, but make sure your ram variable for error and correction are both correct in the JDM MAP mods also. I missed mine the first time around (you always swear you did it)!

Ya, Im starting to get it worked out... I havent been able to get gear to log, but I just looked at the original data .xml and noticed for me, request id was (21), not (40) hopefully this will get it workin again. I should be able to figure out this map, now that I have a better understanding of how to log it.
thanks for the insight!

Make sure you aren't looking at calculated gear, they are not the same.
