Knock Sensor Sensitivity VIII VS IX

Am i right in saying that the knock sensor on the IX has less sensitve settings in the ecu? The top is VIII and the bottom is IX.

i am not expert (john chime in here) but it would appear that to be the case.

not unless there is a multiplier or something that takes affect and is higher/lower on the opposing rom's

It does vary a bit between ROMs. Some may be aggressiveness of the map depending on fuel, JDM vs US market, developments between models etc.

Can't help buy wonder if we could use the IX values in the VIII to help combat false knock issues.

My thoughts exactly if it is the case then mitsubishi must have realized the sensor is sometimes too sensitive on the VIII and have adjusted accordingly.

Doesn't mivec help deture knock, making the IX's knock settings less sensitive? This would be a great test though.

Im thinking though if mivec helps deture knock why would it need a less sensitive knock sensor?

Post the XML for the "Knock Mutiplier" table for the 94170015 and I will do some testing.

I thought the 8s only usded 3 values? Or is it different between the various 8 ROMs.

JDM 8MR is a table, that seemed to be the point when they changed it.

I think it is just calibration differences, not particularly related to MIVEC. If MIVEC moves the knock threshold it wouldn't matter as long as the sound or intensity of knock didn't change, although maybe it would a bit. Nice certainty there

In my experience evo 8's are much less knock sensitive than evo 9's when tuning. Remember that an evo 9 has the MIVEC mechanism that possibly adds noise and needs compensated for in the ecu.
