Do a 3rd or 4th gear pull starting from 3k rpms.
Do a 1st, 2nd, 3rd pull (starting at 3k in 1st and revving to the limiter in 3rd.

Add 2 degrees of timing from load % 160 to 200
Add 1 degree of timing on column 220
pull 1-2 degrees of timing from columns 280 and 300 between 3000 and 4000

Do a 3rd or 4th gear pull starting from 3k rpms.
Do a 1st, 2nd, 3rd pull (starting at 3k in 1st and revving to the limiter in 3rd.

Save them as 090615_3rdgear_og.xls, 090615_123gears_og.xls
And
090615_3rdgear_mod.xls, 090615_123gears_mod.xls

I'll be home in an hour or so... go take that data and then post it up. Or you can email me @ big_ern310@hotmail.com send the .xls files.

I think you're revving the car to where it doesn't make power. try shifting @ 6750. Have you used 1 byte load? I would suggest loading the Tephra Mod v5.10, with Mr. Fred's mods.

I would also run 1 heat range colder plugs. I know you just bought them...but that's just me. I've had great success with Denso IKH24's

Give it hell and report back.

I am currently on the Tephra v5.10 rom and logging 2 byte load/rpm. Logs are attached. It seems that the nlts induced knock on the 2nd 1-2-3 log. At the track, my first pass was the 8.35@83 1.85 60', the 3rd pass I made, I shifted 1st at 6.7 and 2nd at 7 and ran a 8.5@82.6 1.89 60'. The trap was consistent but the et was my driving since I am just not that comfortable banging gears on this car.

Your initial tune looks very clean. This establishes that your timing is not too aggressive to begin with. Here's something I noticed in your logs.... you're creating knock by hitting the limiter. Stop doing it.

Note: Blue is advance 1 degree, Red is retard 1 degree, Red with note to retard 2 degree...is retard 2 degrees, and purple means you need to smooth the columns. Basically from 1500 to 3000. e.g. as you walk down the 240 load column from 1500 to 3000 is should go something like 1, 3, 5, 7. NOT 1, 7,7,8 get my drift?

-Make these changes to the modified .hex/.bin file.

- log a 1,2,3 pull shifting before the limiter and hitting the limiter only in 3rd. Start these runs at 3k in first.

- log a 3rd gear pull starting at 3k and ending at the limiter. I would lower your limiter to 7400 or so. No need to be revving it that high.

Get some data for me tomorrow at lunch and I'll take a look at it then. I'll walk you through how to tune the rest of the map

it would be wise for him to tune his car at lower boosts before turning up the wick.

true.

gradually step up boost when YOU are ready, be careful with timing as well.

Right now, boost peaks at 23-24 and then tapers. I am not going to run any higher than that since IDC's are at 95% at 7k+. I will rework the map tonight and log tomorrow and post up. Thanks to everyone.

If his pump couldn't keep up with the flow you would see a drop in fuel pressure. This would be evident from increasing pulse widths. His map would get significantly richer to compensate to maintain the same AFR's.

It looks like the factory pump is doing just fine at the moment.

try that again. Blue is advance. Red is retard. 1=1 deg 2=2 degrees

Get a handle on your lower RPM AFR's you're running at 10.6:1 in some areas. Lean those out. You may find that you'll need to retard timing as these AFR's get in check. It'll show in the logs. LMK

I was able to make two 3rd gear pulls on the new timing map. I also tweaked the fuel map and it is closer to where it needs to be. I ran my og tune through Jack of Trades dyno sim vs. the new timing map and picked up a few HP up top. It seems I have lost some HP/TQ up untill 5.7k and I can feel it. I'm sure this is from the lower timing down low, so should I add more timing there since it's not knocking?
