Tractrix cable question (not the average ?)
So I have read that people have used the VAG-com cable to log with mitsu logger and others (if you dont know what VAG-com is, stop reading lol)
Anyways, my question, does anyone know if I can use my tractrix cable with the VAG-com program?

Though I haven't tried it myself, since the original Tactrix OpenPort 1.3U cable supports the OBDII protocol, I would guess that you should be able to use the original Tactrix OpenPort 1.3U cable with VAG-COM for older cars that do not use CAN. For newer cars that do use CAN, you'd probably need the newer Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 cable since it looks like that cable supports the CAN protocol too.
P.S. it's 'Tactrix' i.e. no additional 'r' after first 't'.

I used the Vag-comm from Ross Tech . These guys use a serialized dongle but I imagine on the older Vag and as stated earlier non can bus that other obd scanners like maybe scantech might work.
My wife had an Audi All-road and vag allowed Air-bag adjustments for ride height and programming things like new remotes and assigning buttons to roll up windows etc... Pretty cool but not as complex as doing fuel timing tables etc...
PS we got rid of the Audi and I have cable lying around somewhere (non Can-Bus) lol

Yeah, that why Im asking. Got a B5 Audi S4 right now. I was trying to see if my tactrix cable will work with the VAG-com program. But ill be playing with the cable and the program tomorrow. So ill have an answer then.
BTW, what cable do you have exatly oldevodude?? Wanna maybe get rid of it if I cant get my tactrix cable working with the vag-com program.

I have the actual Vag cable from Ross-tech and serial number for the dongle and software. I doubt very seriously you will get Vag going without their proprietary cable/dongle system. PM me and maybe I can dig up my APR software that allows basic boost and timing changes also. This one I got to work without having their special ECU chips installed
