Problem with LC-1

I'm trying to log my Innovate Wideband and I'm having no luck. I've tried logworks and Evoscan but they have a common problem. It seems as though the computer is not recognizing the serial adaptor or maybe the adapter is broken It's a Belkin Serial/USB Adaptor that I bought a year ago and never got around to using. It has 3 L.E.D.s that are labeled "LINK" "TX" "RX" and with the car running only the "Link" lights up. I have the Stereo Jack hooked up to the OUT and the Terminator hooked to the IN. I've tried to switch these around but still no luck. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.
Excuse the baby in the background

LC-1s can be a pain in the *** sometimes. I think i had to go through 3 serial adapters and ended up with one from Radio Shack. I would guess your adapter is the issue.

That blows because that Belkin wasn't cheap. Maybe I'll hook up with one of my IT guys and see if they'll loan me one to try out.

Turn the car off, unplug the tactrix and serial to usb, wait a few seconds and plug the serial to usb back in. Open LM programmer and make sure that it is set up for gasoline and close. Open Logworks, start the car and see if it logs now... report back

our tuner has to go through the same issue here. He went through a bunch of different serial to USB adapters before finding one that will work. When he tunes a UTEC, the only adapter that he could get to work was a Gigaware one, from RadioShack.

Best bet is to just keep trying an adapter until you find one that works. Kinda sucks that they dont put serial ports in most laptops these days. I was told that Dell will add one to your laptop, for a fee, if you request it during the build.

My LC1 ALWAYS worked great using serial on my old laptop. On my new one, having to use a serial-usb adapter, it is a pain to get it to connect and it usually messes up the calibration and resets my settings by the time I finally get it to connect. I unplug & plug back in both the serial from the usb adapter, and the adapter from my computer multiple times, reboot, and ding around and eventually it connects. It never gives an error message though, it goes into the settings but when I click anything I get that error 'ding' from the speakers of my computer, and settings refuse to change. I'm using the keyspan serial-usb adapter.

Haha.....well none of this is promising . I'll try some of the tips listed above and then I'll try a couple of adapters to see if that helps. Thanks for the replies and if anyone else has suggestions, keep them coming.

Thanks Chris. I didn't want to bug you about this so I decided to post this thread. Thanks for the help though. Part of me wants to just run down to the Best Buy and get one for the convenience factor of having it RIGHT NOW! Hopefully it's not something that I'm doing wrong.
