Best alternative for the 96420008 rom?

I have the 96420008 rom, and would like to change to a more supported
rom preferably something that I can run tephra with since I want the knock
cel lights unless that can be done with the 96420008?

I did a few hours of research on here and seen it comes down to either the
94170015 or the 96420011?

Any insight would be helpful. My current cars maps look rediculous. Whoever attempted to tune this car needs serious help. Some maps attached to show.

I would go with 94170015. It is very well supported. But the buck stops here becasue no further research is being conducted on it because the "universal" rom 96530006.

I have not switched because I am happy with 94170015. It is fully capable of my level of modification.

That's a weird high octane fuel map. Why not just go with the 96530006 like 'everyone' else?

looks like it has injectors in it that werent scaled. An earlier Works BrainFlash or a home tune attempt. Judging by the values its either 680s or 720s?

fic 880's and thats exactly what the guy did. instead of scaling the injectors he changed the entire map to run with the bigger injectors.

so which rom to go with? I dont mind if I have to ditch the immobilizer.

My list comes down to:

94170015
96420011
96530006

so just go with 9653006? - the reason I wanted to initially go with 94170015 is because so many people confirmed it via tephra mod.

96530006 is very likely going to be the only supported tephra version on that list, going forward. You shouldn't have any problem with the immobilizer; see the instructions for the details.

OK, I'll go with the 30006 then, thanks! Is there anything else I should worry about when converting to this ROM ID? I already know to back up my existing and store it away in a safe place incase I ever need a failsafe, but is there any significant changes between the 30006 and the 20008 that need adjusted?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it a lot everyone.

PS. besides the immobilizer.

The immobilizer.

Seriously, it's pretty straightforward, if you don't have hacked-up ROMs like Applaudd and I. The only other thing that's generally been reported (typically folks coming from 96940011) is that they have to set the BISS screw on their throttle body to a more appropriate position, which is easily done with the SAS actuator in Evoscan.

hey bringing this back.

Im trying to switch from my 96420008 rom to 96530006. Now Im following the EVOecu wiki page on changing to the 96530006 rom, but the info is for changing from 96940011, not the 96420008 rom. So is it the same procedure or is it different?

nevermind

Seems that the instructions for changing from 96940011 to 96530006 are the same for changing from 96420008 to 96530006.

You have disabled the immobiliser? I have run some 04s on 94170015 but I havent tried the 9635 yet since I had thought it was just the 05 replacement...need to update my required reading list I guess

Ive been running the 96420008 with the early tephra valet-knock cel-nlts mods for quite some time now. I have alot of other patches in it also tho. The only two advantages that I could think of from what I have in my ROM would be. The SD patch and a few of the accel enrichment maps. Oh actually 3. the third would be ALT MAP.

If all you want is knock cel then there is old early verson of 96420008.

Turco and tephra helped each other and now I can run 94170015 in my ecu. Turco said something about setting the valet mode to 8000rpm.
Also, I was running the old tephra v2, but it has no map switching so thats a big negative for me. I want to switch from 92oct maps and E85.
