2 Inherits?

So I started looking around EvoFlash for the lst couple days and discovered something odd. Or maybe not very odd, but I'm a total noob and just started learning.

My internal ID is 88590014 and my inherit ID is 88590013

When I go into Edit map for example Fuel, I get 3 tabs. 88590014 then 88590013 and evo9base_20081101.

Why is that? I kinda understand how inherit works, but I don't understand why 88590013 even exists and 88590014 does not point to the base map.

Also can someone point me to the right direction of how I can upgrade to ROM 88590015. My car has been tuned by 2 different tuners and I want to carry over everything from 0014 to 0015.

i think nearly ALL evo 9s in the states use 88590015

if u want help to change across feel free to shoot me a PM (easier for me to get notice of)

basically, take EVERY setting and map in your current rom and flash to 88590015 then your done!

also u may need to delete the immo code.

That is because the maps are in the same location. The versioning system Mitsu uses generally increases the last 2 digits to version, so 88590013 - 88590015 are the same as far as locations, just tweaked slightly by mitsu.

Thanks Rolly, I will shoot you a pm later today. Is there a way to easily move all my current chnages on 0014 to 0015? Like I said, I never tuned a car yet in my life and still learning, so I have no idea what my previous tunner made changes to.

How come the maps are in the same location? If my car originally cam with 0013 and my last tuner upgraded it to 0014, shouldn't the 00013 been wiped out

I honestly don't remember if they all came with 13 originally but the basic point that fostytou is trying to get across to you is that the difference between 13 and 14 is minor. By location he means the samc basic parts of the 13 and 14 maps are all located in roughly the same part of the code. All 14 is 13 with a few more changes in some particular places so if the car was upgraded from 13->14 then yes the old 13 map on the ECU was physicall wiped out and replaced with a 14 map.

But that's completely different from how ECUFlash sees and interprets the map. To ECUFlash a 14 map is seen as a 13 map with a few tweaks. I.e its an extension of a 13 map. This is what the inheritance really is, it doesn't mean that you have both maps physically on the ECU.

I tried to explain this as simply as I could and hopefully it has helped to get the point across

For reference, think of the inherits like adding a page to a phone book. You can add as many pages as you want, but as long as the phone book is pointing to the right address you can still get to the same house. Your actual rom is like the actual house. If you change the address you will not be at the right house. If you change the house you will still be at the correct house, it just might be a little different. When going from 13 -> 14 -> 15 you may have added a garage and painted the outside, but you are still at the same house.

Not a bad analogy at all. Reminds me of how poor the ones on this topic in the average CS/SE class are .
