Alt Map NOW working :)

88590015 Tephra v5.10
Alt Maps Master ACD0F set to 1
JOT harness, benchtested and working properly @ 4.8v

Im having problems with my AltMap now that I finally decided to set it up. I have checked the voltage at the pin with a volt meter, reads 4.8ish volts. Logged it in Evoscan (Mut83) , logs 4.8v...except when at WOT it jumps between 4.8 and 0v...kinda random. thought I logged MUT00 with altmaps, but I guess i forgot to click the right box whilst driving (got raw Knock Volts instead ).

I changed load threshold to 60 and time to 10ms and was able to enter Altmaps (verified by WGDC set to 0%), but unable to get out of altmaps. Then I messed around with changing to 100load...no dice, changed back to 60load and then couldnt get Altmaps to activate. messed with time to activate (set to 1000ms and left it). No change.

Now, I just left it at Load threshold=100, activate time=1000ms. And it is not working.

NINJA EDIT:
fixed the problem...i just lowered the threshold voltage to .1v
problem solved. I still cant seem to figure out why the voltage drops randomly though, good thing it stays above .2v on all the swings.

fix your first issue - which is MUT83 not logging at a stable 4.8v

check the wiring, sounds like a loose connector...

^well o went ahead and checked the harness fir any loose connetction. There weren't any. Checked the resistance of the wires whilst wiggling them (to check for a loose solder joint) nothing changed. Only thing I can think is that the ecu pin itself doesn't make a good connection. It is still logging random times where it drops voltage...it seems to only happen at WOT.
Maikumaru (local guy) has been having the same problems with his IX running alt maps on a 5.1 88590015 rom

What should I do now?

can you still a voltmeter on the input to the harness (ie whatever +5v your tapping off)

and then see if it fluctuates @ WOT?

maybe the harness is fine but the supply is bad?

I'll try that in the morning and see whats up. I have another JOT harness that I can try if this is still not working.

So I went ahead and installed another JOT harness, re soldered all the connections, put in new pin...still not working. Here is a pic:

I'm going to mess around with the settings on the 5.1 patch and see if I can get it working.
Just have to finish bending this back after hitting a tire yesterday on the frwy.

custom beatrush radiator scoop mod, lol

Did you make sure to use the BIN file in the download and copy all your info to that file? Make sure to save file as xxxxxxx.bin

It still does periodicially. Mainly only at WOT, and only for a fraction of a fraction o a second. it never truely hits 0v. I'm going to try my old v5, og map and see if there is any difference.

if MUT83 is not stable then it's nothing todo with the ROM.

connect a multimeter to the +5v input to the JoT harness and ensure its receiving a constant +5v

^yea I have done that for both of my harnesses. I don't think the resolution on my meter is good enough to catch the drop. It just says 4.7v in ACC, and barely fluctuates between 4.7-4.8v with Motor on. Iunno. Maybe I have everything wired up wrong or something. I'm bout ready to just give up.

Oh, the powerinput for the harness reads 12.6v going to the diode 4.7-8 coming out.

ok ok...

maybe PM JoT and ask him how to diagnose the harness.

something isn't right with the power supply to the ADC0F pin

^thanks for all your help, btw. I'm going to take the harnesses into my circuits lab at school and retest using the power supply and uberexpensive Fluke meters.

If its reading 4.8 volts at rest, it should supply enough voltage when loaded. I bench test each harness with a 100k ohm load on the ECU pin output to simulate the ADC inputs load. As you can see, a 100k ohm load is barely anything. If you tried 2 separate harness', its DEFINITELY not the harness that's the cause. I've only had 2 harness' ever have any issues that I am aware of and they were from the same batch, and I've made quite a few thus far. The odds of 2 being bad are slim to none.

^ I'm exactly with you on all of that. I tested both harnesses before installing and they are fine. I really don't think it's the harness at all. It's probably install error on my part, or the rom I have isn't set up properly (again user error).
This thread isn't here to blame anyone, I'm just looking for help

how I have tested each harness:
solder to 12v ecu power
solder to ground
switch to ACC
read voltage at 12v wire to ground:12.6v
read from pin to ground: 4.8v
both read the same. Second one was prolly soldered better...
