Welcome to the free market ...
I paid for my cable, I paid for my software, and I paid for my EvoScan/GPS ... but in the end no business DESERVES to make money or DESERVES their business model to work. If the main source of revenue is from the cable, and the cable can be made / purchased for cheaper then change the business model. But don't expect people to continue paying money out of the goodness of their heart.
While I fully appreciate, on a personal level, the support all the developers give here, the fact is if they are trying to make money out of this venture then they aren't doing it for purely altruistic reasons. The robustness of this very community is as much an asset to them as it is to me, because without this robust community I would likely not be a customer in the first place (chicken meet egg). Most of THAT is directly attributable to the partially open nature of the system which requires enough openness that some people will DIY and others will see the value in purchasing a ready-made product. It is that ladder group that generates revenue and the former that helps build a robust community that is self-perpetuating.
As for "disrespecting" well at that point it just all becomes personal and NOT just business at which point it is little boys pissing in the snow. Who cares why he wants to do it; curiosity, cheap-***, straight up freetard. Move on. The FACT, versus assumption, is that the cable is DIY-able. Getting upset about the perceived tone or attitude of some dude on an internet forum is laughable at best.

Who cares, you want to make a cable, go ahead, lets move on with life, Everyone has tried to cut corners before, Dave took Perrin's boost controller and copied it made his own, who cares competition is good, how else do consumers get lower prices.
Why are you trying to stir the pot? This is the EcuFlash forum -- drama belongs in the Engine/Drivetrain forum
I don't think I am, but maybe I should have elaborated. Personally, I think every penny of that cable is worth it. Like someone said before, it is probably the best money you can spend for the car. It was the first "mod" I bought for it.
I don't necessarily agree with bashing someone for not wanting to pay a certain amount if they can get something of equal value for less money solely to support the vendor for something else they do inexpensively or free (evoscan/ecuflash) out of the vendor's own choice. Then apparently saying someone ripped you off by charging $2500 for a product cuz their support and such sucked. I know I've emailed hammish a couple times for support with no response. Does it make the cable/evoscan a ripoff? Not IMO. I would pay more than $25 for evoscan and something for ecuflash. With a quickness. I bet a lot of people would.
Why shouldn't we all pay the dealer for oil changes and service to support them for only selling the car for $30kish?
I'm actually surprised the the bigger vendors/tuners, like yourself, aren't angry at all the support and innovation in the ecuflash forum. They gave everyone who wants to try an opportunity to tune their cars themselves for relatively very cheap (cost of a cable and evoscan/ecuflash) taking that business away from you and the other tuners.
And why do so many people on this forum think that because someone owns an evo, they should have this seemingly endless supply of money and spend whatever someone charges for a product with no question as to whether it can be done cheaper or not?

BR tried to resell the Perrin product at first, but their account was denied by Perrin because they were viewed as a competing manufacturer. Only then did BR incorporate Perrin design elements into their MBC. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Colby, Tephra, EVO4Mad and the rest of the experts, take a look. has anyone... That's a link to a thread posted here on EVOm. I just want to point it out to those of you who have put out an excellent product for a minimal charge or in even free. My suggestion is, make the software you guys are using compatible with only YOUR cables, which I believe they may be already, no? The thread pissed me off.
