Anyone unplug their factory BCS and disable the P0248 CEL?

If so, how? I've searched and haven't been able to find a whole lot about this.

I have an AMS MBC and figured that the ugly, corroding factory BCS should go sit in a pile of junk. I unplugged it, car ran for about a day and a half without a code. I drove about 160 miles during this period of time. Then the code came back and was around for about a day. Started my car this morning and the code magically cleared itself without coming back on during my 22 mile drive to work. I was also able to drive 22 miles home and the CEL has not yet re-appeared

Yes I know I can just plug it back in, however I just want to disable this code in ECU Flash so that I don't see it.

I set it to 0x0001 and all the Periphery Bits stayed the same...I would assume that by changing the value they would change?
