DataLogging with Custom Gauges

Well, First off... I want to say I am a new proud owner of a 2006 Evo IX. It has been a joyful time. I have done a small set of mods and having done a lot of research and acquired some friends who do a lot with DSM's... I have been looking into data logging and tuning myself.

While I look for data logging cables, I am also looking at getting additional gauges IE (Wide Band etc..). However, to be able to log these new items, I have heard I need to remove some unneeded sensors in my ECU and just "inject" the new one.

Is there any cables that support external sensors for logging? I don't really like the idea of cutting off unused sensors to log things like Air and Fuel.

Any Suggestions? I have worked hard to keep my car very clean and still want to keep it as a primary driver and not a drag car

Thanks,

--Jeff

Hi Jeff,

My first suggestion would be to read through the forum, search for a few things that interest you, and familiarize yourself with many of the questions that have already been answered.

Most common start: Get a JDM MAP for logging boost via stock connections and a wideband that can be logged via serial or USB (almost any will do this) like the UEGO, LC-1, etc. You can also pipe them through your rear O2. Aside from knowledge and a free logging program (or better yet, Evoscan) along with a cable (though your post implies you have one) that is ECUFlash compatible, you will then have everything you need to tune your car to a very competent level.

My suggestion is to get the Zeitronix Zt-2 "Eleventeen" package i.e. with LCD display and AFR, boost & EGT sensors (http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/zt2/zt2.htm). Like some of the other logging solutions, it too has free dedicated logging software, or alternatively the data log stream can be imported into EvoScan for logging alongside other parameters logged via the OBDII port.
