modifying tephra patch
im considering using tephras 90550001 v5.10 patch but dont want to use all the features eg alt maps etc and would like to be able to disable this from even appearing in ecu flash. i know they can be disabled but as i dont plan on using them id like to keep it all simple the only functions id like to use are
1: Restore ICS State on Ignition
2; Flash CEL on Knock
3: Enable Spray ICS on Knock
is it possible to modify the xml. attached is the patch what would need to be changed to do this
thanks

if this even makes a differance

When you copy over the extra XML for the v5.10 mods to the stock XML file, you can leave out the table definition if you don't want them showing up in ecuflash.
This wont stop the code in the rom from being flashed to your ecu though. By leaving out the XML for a table it just means that you don't have access to modify the values in your rom, so it will still go through any custom routines and use the default values already in the table.
V5.10 has been around for a while now and has been working fine, so I don't think you need to worry about extra features that you aren't using... just ignore them for now

no other way it can be done properly? as his patched rom doesnt look like it has 2 byte load. and i would like to keep it all simple and basic. do you think tephra would do it for me if i paid him for his time to do it?? simply what i want to do is just ad those 3 features above to my existing rom
There are old threads that will give you just those three mods, with instructions on how to apply each of them seperately.
If it were me, I'd run the tephra v5.10 or v7 ROM. Theres less for YOU to mess up since the hard stuff has already been done. The roms are reliable and have some great features.

That is because it has 1 byte load.
I would be hesitant to suggest you touch your rom until you feel comfortable enough to not have to ask these questions. Please flash with caution.

I'd be more willing to help, but I don't think you want it. Unless you can provide some realistic/valid reason why you won't run v5.10 or v7 I'm not very willing to do anymore leg work for you.

2 byte load can be added to any rom, but there is no point to it with 1 byte around (which you will have to have a tephra rom for).
The fortunate part about everyone wanting to do something is that it is for a reason, and provides a wide testing base of people with different methods and issues. This is how bugs get worked out. If you were to pay someone to write the patches for you and you alone.... guess who would be the tester?
Plain and simple is following the heard when you can't make waves of your own. You don't have to use any of the mods from the tephra rom that you don't want to. They can all be functionally disabled, and will not cause any interference with the normal operation of your rom.
Both of these points say 2 things:
1) You will not be addding anything you don't want. If you don't want it, hide it from view or functionally disable it. It will be like it never happened.
2) The path of least resistance is generally that of the masses. This is also generally (not always) the path that is most likely to be right.
The silly part about your 9 times out of 10 comment is that it is true. However 9.99 times out of 10 these answers are already here on the forum, well documented and tested. For anything that doesn't fit that bill, it is probably not a simple answer, and isn't documented as such for a reason. That's not to say that asking questions will never get us anywhere or that we are near "project completion", but there is a bit of a line in the sand between what is an "easy" (aka already answered) question and what will stimulate more growth in a specific area or the project overall.
As an open source community, the way to "pay your way" is to help the project, not monetarily fund a very small part of it (you probably couldn't pay enough for this stuff anyway, and that is not a comment on your pay grade, but on the value that is being provided for free).
