The Dodge/Chryslers with Mitsu motors have Mitsu ecus.

Stealths have 3000GT ecus,
Colts have Mirage ecus,
etc.

And many ecus are compatible.
For example most export(non-JDM) 4-cylinder H8 ecus can be cross flashed with other export cars images.

The only way to tell if compatible is to compare same year ecu PCB Numbers, if they match they are most likely compatible.

I have no idea what newer Dodges have 4-cylinder Mitsu motors to check PCB Numbers against though.

Never cross flash an image with non-matching PCB Numbers, that usually bricks the ecu.

The dodge stratus and chrysler sebring from the same model years as the 3g eclipse have an SH processor. However, the model year 2000 eclipse/stratus/sebring have an H8 based ecu. If I have read correctly the 4 cylinder ecu can be flashed with an evo 8 rom image. The stratus and sebring were made at the same factory that made the eclipse in Normal Illinois.

Only the stratus and sebring COUPE's do. No 4 door or convertible. (not correcting you, just adding info)

I have a stratus coupe, although I just swapped the entire ECU to an EVO one when I changed from auto to manual, the pinouts are the same (but missing the fuel solenoid and boost solenoid pinouts on the harness). Its all plug and play.

OK then as a possible cheaper ECU option would be from a 2001 newer sebring or stratus 2dr. has anyone actually flashed an EVO ROM to one of these ECU's?

I think so, but not positive. I don't have a 4 cylinder car, so I never really paid attention. Here is a starting off point for you.

I pulled the rom off my fiances old 01 stratus coupe using the tactrix cable.... but never flashed anything back on for fear of f-ing her car up

Now she has a 350z track edition and i really wish there was open-source software for it - tuning software for those cars is down right dirty expensive.

It runs the same, several people on club3g.com have used the EVO ROM in their stock ECU. I don't know if there are any drawbacks, but again the ECU is missing a couple pins.
