Cosworth 272`s on an Evo IX

Anyone here running cossie cams on their 9`s? im still trying to set them up, but i fear they possibly cause phantom knock, just need someone elses opinion aswell.
Car runs perfect on WOT with no knock, but i get constant knocks on cruise and part throttle. many thanks

Tons of people running them. I am and have never experienced this. Were the lifters bled well during the installation? They will tick like crazy, and I'm not sure if the knock sensor is sensitive enough to pick that up.

Sounds like your MIVEC settings are causing the cruise knock. Might try there.

I think you have some good ideas already.. I've got Cosworth M2 and run them with no issues

-Make sure the timing marks all line up.
-If you modified your maps then try putting it back to stock and see if it helps.

You don't need to bleed lifters when installing cams. I've never done this in any EVO/DSM install.

Thanks for your help guys. I checked the timing marks, all good, i didnt bleed my lifters, but anyways there are very quite and no ticking noise from them. The thing is when my car is under load, there is 0 knock present, and same on WOT, checked in both 3th and 4th gear, it only happens when cruising on very light throttle in 70-100 load zone and 3000-4000 rpm. I have adjusted my timing since in those areas and will do some more logging and see what happens.

Ps: for those running cossies, what is the best setting for them, i have an adjustable exhaust pully installed, but they are still on a base setting, zero degress. Do you tend to advance them a few degrees or retard them for maximum power?
Thanks a lot, Phil

I remember reading that someone had adjusted their 8 both gears and got more torque. You should play with it a little and see which nets more torque for you. I'm in the process of retiming my car again cause I'm doing m3's and a 80mm red. I'll get that running then switching to 1k injectors.
