Mitsulogger works fine, but it doesnt log quite as fast and not nearly as many tables as EvoScan. It will provide a way to check to make sure the UEGO is connecting tho.
I use an IO Gear usb 2 serial from comp usa. 13.99
2.5 and 2.7 log fine.
I bought a cheap Dell Latitude D800 with a serial port, and use the same db-9 plug i put together for the uego. Works like a charm.
I got tired of usb 2 serial games...
Check in hyperterminal for the port settings. Set them to match what com your using.
Should log right away when you hit call... if I am not mistaken...

Well, I used the Revo Uninstaller to uninstall both EvoScan and the USB to Serial driver. Did a fresh install on both. No dice.
Are there any settings that need to be manually changed to make this work?
EvoScan defaults to a Baud Rate of 15,625. The USB to Serial adapter defaults to 9,600 BPS.
As I understand this reference from Al Gore's Internet, these settings should be the same when two serial devices are connected.
Baud Rate vs. Bit Rate
Yet, in all of the UEGO threads on this forum I've not read of anyone making any changes to these settings. Comments please.
Did any of you UEGO users change any default settings in either EvoScan, the Tactrix cable driver, or the USB to Serial adapter driver?

If you connect two serial devices together using direct cables then baud and BPS are in fact the same.

So far I've tried three different laptop computers, two different USB to Serial adapters and still Nadda.
I've confirmed that the USB to Serial is a branded (Gigaware) item that is known to work with the AEM UEGO.
And I've confirmed that I am using a version of EvoScan (2.7) that is known to work with the UEGO.
The DIY UEGO to serial cable is grounded under the dash. In some UEGO threads users have needed to run a wire to the battery ground to provide a better or more isolated ground in order to get logging to work. I guess I'll try that next.

Tried to connect with HyperTerminal. Nadda. Are there any specific settings needed? Or do I simply let HT pick its own settings?
Assuming my attempt was correct, then the issue must be either the USB to Serial adapter or my ground is not "sufficient".
I checked the serial pin-outs initially and all was well. However, I've read in some other UEGO threads that even a working ground my not be "sufficient". Apparently other UEGO users have had to run a ground wire into the engine compartment and ground to the block or the frame. Seems like an extreme solution to me, but I'd be glad to do it if I knew that was the answer.
I wish I really knew what is going on here. ARGH!

I am beginning to queston the serial connection. Blue wire from UEGO to pin 2 and pin 5 to ground check that and get back to us...
Also there is an excellent ground right behind the stereo, there is a metal bracket that has an empty slot for a 6mm bolt

Interesting.
Actually, I've tried 2.5, 2.6 and 2.7. I dropped 2.6 as several users have said it is fubared. I've been sticking with 2.7 as I like the 1byte load. I will try 2.5 again.
What about my question concerning settings? Have you had to change anything in EvoScan, in the Tactrix driver, or in the USB/Serial driver?

BTW, here is a link to the UEGO cable trouble shooting guide by bustin (THANKS!) that I have found very useful.
How to trouble shoot your AEM Uego output cable.
Somehow I managed to scramble my 'Windows' on the Netbook. It is down for the count until I can pick up a USB CD ROM drive tonight so I can reinstall XP. GRRR!
The good news is I got some new rear brakes this week (thanks to Archie at PSI), so the EVO no longer sounds like an old truck every time I stop.
More later...

I will recheck those to make absolutely certain they are not reversed, as that would be very easy to do. And it would still be 2.5v!!!
