Having problems with car holding the 2step or launch maps too long.

Here is my issue when racing the 1/4 mile. I pull up to the line and the other car and myself line up. If I start holding the 2 step on a regular tree using launch maps, with the timing retarded to build boost quicker, the car will launch great but when I shift from 1st to 2nd and 3rd its like the car is running on 2 cylinders or is flooded from holding the 2 step too long. But, if I try to only start the 2 step starting at the 2nd light, the car will bog as it hasn't built enough boost but it will run great through the gears down the track.

Guess what I'm saying is I'm having a hard time getting the car to run great utilizing launch maps when shifting into 2nd, 3rd gear the car wants to fall on its face. But I can get a 1.67, 1.65 60fts all damn day. Car just won't run right once I try to shift into the next couple gears. Any suggestions?

do you have NLTS enabled or disabled? if its enabled, you need to check your top clutch switch position/sensitivity

otherwise check your Launch Maps Speed threshold... maybe lower it so it disengages AS soon as you start moving!

The launch maps speed threshold was set at 4mph. I'm going to lower it and see what it does this weekend. NLTS I enabled the last run and it ran great but with no launch as I didn't want it to run like crap through the gears....

Once you pass the 4mph mark, launch maps should disengage totally. Whatever was happening on the 2-step should not be a problem once out of those maps, unless you've fouled plugs in the process of launching on the 2-step. This would indicate too much fuel in the 2-step map. A NLTS issue could also be in the works too.

The problem has to do with the tps threshold it seems. If I start retarding timing around 4000rpm and set the tps threshold to say, 60%, it wont allow the boost to build upto my stationary rev limit @5700 but it'll build boost around 8psi@4300-4400rpm. If I up the tps threshold it dumps fuel too quick into the higher rpm range and then thats when we start running into too much fuel dumping in too quick. So, the key seems to transition the main fuel/timing map to accompany the tps threshold AND rpm into launch maps if that makes sense?

Please post up your mods, launch map settings and maps and a datalog. Are you using a WBo2s? If so, please make sure you log this with all other basic data log items(TPS, Ignition Advance, RPM, IAT, Speed, IPW, IDC, Fuel Trims, 1 byte load, WBO2S, Knock Sum, MAP if applicable, AFR MAP, Octane Level).

Did you log knock? It could be knocking from staying on the limiter too long.

Are you refering to the second staging light or the yellow lights on the tree before the green?

Yellow lights on the tree before the green. I will be doing a log here as I just made a aem uego cable to log afr's. I won't be doing IAT though. I have a spoolinup cop also and plugs are perfect.....

Btw, I logged knock and had 8-12 at the track and now that I play with it after work I only have 1-2 tops. Just need to get the revs higher and build a little more boost. I'm getting there. Logs will be posted in the next couple days or so. Going to the track here soon again..
