Scan or battery mess with flash?

Got a CEL last, got the car scanned, fixed the problem, pulled the battery to reset the code, and the problem was solved. But ever since that day my car has felt a lot slower. I was told it ease possible that scanning the ecru or restarting it with the battery could possibly **** with a flash, just wondering if there was any validity to this?

My personal experience is that pulling the battery power will not affect the tune that's on the computer. Think about it this way, if you flash the ecu and then reset power, if the tune was lost, it wouldn't have another tune to fall back on and the car just wouldn't run.

Sooo... I would check for a mechanically problem... vaccum lines, exhaust leaks, ect...

This happened to me before. i had a tune on the car from the previous owner. when i pulled the map it obviously had been tuned. and my battery died. (left dome light on). so i charged it and went to drive it and it would barley idle and drove like crap for weeks. so i had to get it retuned. but dunno how it would erase it if its FLASHED to the ecu? but it did.

the only thing that will make the car slower after a ecu reset is the fuel trims. take the car on the interstate and let it relearn the fuel trims and you should be back to normal.

ya ecuflash is not like dsmlink, it writes directly to the ecu itself, not a removable / portable EPROM chip.

That's true and makes a lot of sense but if I had the patience to let the car run through a few drive cycles to solve a problem then I also would have just let the CEL turn itself off lol thanks though. I just heard this from a friend and wanted some input before I payed to have the car retuned.

The Cel is not going to turn off, you must turn it off via evoscan or whatever you use. It only takes 10minutes on interstate cruising at 50mph for trims to settle back in place.

A CEL normally resets after 3 drive cycles or so if the problem is fixed... Unless evo's are weird like that which I guess they could be.

I never noticed a cel go away, but it makes sense. If the trims are back to normal it would only make sense for the ecu to turn the cel off.

Werd, well regardless the problem is solved. I drove it for about a week and the car continued to feel like ****. Brought it to the tuner and had it adjusted to the warmer weather and it feels a lot better. I know boost likes the cold but I didn't realize how big a difference the temps can make. Damn.

its mostly the air. if you notice between night and day your afr will change a little also. for me i can tune for 11.8 during the day and at night it turns into 12.1. its the air density its more condensed at night. FMIC has to work much harder during the summer, no doubt about that.

if my setup allows for a perrin fmic without heatsoaking then yours will too. i dont see any heatsoaking issues with the perrin fmic yet.
