digital dash question (wiring)

hey guys, for those with digital dashs running the stock ecu (i don't think there are many LOL), did you use the Tach output from the ecu to the dash, or did you pull signal off the spark/injector signal?

reason i ask is, we have found that if you unplug the stock instrument cluster, the tach output from the ecu stops sending a signal. so if you tie into that wire with the digital dash, it will read nothing. my assumption is that if i use a pull down resistor on the signal, it will "immitate" a current draw and hopefully allow the digital dash to get the signal. i can run my mutlimeter across the tach ito the ground on the actual stock cluster to find the impeadance if need be.

any electronic experts or anyone whos tried it before?

only reason i haven't resorted to using spark for signal is i like the dedicated tach output more.

i think i placed this in the wrong section, mods you could move it to the ecuflash or advanced engine management/tuning section? (whereever is applicable)

anyone have any idea? i'll try to get a multimeter on the dash to see the impeadance tonight and give it a try with a pull down resistor.

Yep, try with pulldown or pullup resistor...
It's a long time but I remember I get tach signal on the ECU for my Greddy Turbo Timer and I had to divide signal by 2 to have the right speed on the TT display...
Good luck.

Last week i tried to connect DEFI DSSC, so everything was great, except RPM, i tried to connect directly to ecu pins (spark plug, rpm) and to Instr. Cluster Rpm input, and there was nothing ... So i can't figure out what to do.

P.S. KevinD how did u resolved the charge ??? Cos if u unplug Inst.Cluster, Accu will not charge ...
