i believe i found the culprit .my idle settings on my mivec map had -.6 values so I raised them to 3.2 (500) 4.2 (750) 4.8 (1000) along with bumping my timing at 500&750 and it no longer stalls.thx for the help

so increasing mivec at idle cured your stalling completely?

the only thing I changed was adding a little timing below 1000 and mivec changes. the timing changed the recovery and the mivec made it more stable not falling below 750 nearly as much and not stalling at idle suddenly.the stepper table didnt help and idle changes didnt either I ended up going back to 900 idle and 1000 with a/c on with the mivec changes and timing and putting the iscv values back closer to stock.

Mine doing a print screen of the before and after?

Interesting! This is the first time I've heard of anyone adjusting MIVEC maps to stable the idling.

For 8s.....ISCV adjustment, Idle speed adjustment, and Timing adjustments is all that is necessary to keep from stalling.

Pm'd you Appauld for some advice. Hope you don't mind.

I have the exact same issue as OP and switching my AEM intake tube back to stock one helped tremendously, but I would like to run the AEM and get back some lost top end.

Are you talking about changing just the 10% load range only and leaving everything else the same?

Only changing the 10 load column won't change anything as the car idles between 30 and 40 load (in my case at least). Most likely 10-40 load need to be changed.

Correct me if I am wrong, but adding more advance in the 0-1000 RPM and 10-40 LOAD range will cause the idle to be a bit more "lopey" or "rough". From what I have read in the MIVEC TUNING thread and others you want to keep those values as close to 0 in order to keep a nice smooth idle - in that range at least.

im having this same issue.. comp 280's, pump gas, speed density with a tial bov.

a/c off, push the clutch in, finds idle just fine.

a/c on, push in clutch, finds idle, then stumbles OR clutch in, dies immediately.

yesterday, we put in a new IAC valve (since mine is an 03), and the problem persists (although i cannot compare since ive only driven it 50 miles since then). tuning wise, we messed with where it idles, how it idles (fuel, etc.), and the correction factor (forgot the technical name.. its dipping from 70's to 29 coming down to an idle)

ill link my tuner to this thread for any replies that are technically over my head (im still learning), but any help, either here or to my pm inbox, would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT:: in addition, my idle is open loop, cruise is closed. couldnt get the car to do anything in closed loop at idle.

Normally that is true, but if it helped in his case.... Can't argue with it! I'll give it a try as well just for kicks, I'm having near-stalling issues as well.
