Injector Voltages, Why?

Why does the injector voltage in the latency tables start at 4.69 volts? And max at 18.68 volts? Outside of a malfunction, an injector would never see 18+ volts.

I'm getting ready to install a set of RC 750's and their listed operating voltage range is 8-15 volts, so any numbers outside of that range are for what?

I've seen some injector sheets where the mfg supplies latency at 10-11-12-13-14 volts. Wouldn't it make sense to modify the table for these voltages and enter the mfg info?

I've been deep into fast fredddie's injector scaling thread and this question is bugging me.

I don't see why not. It may skew how the ECU does start up/cranking fueling--but that would depend on the mods/engine/etc.

As far as the upper limit goes yeah--18v/I always had that question too. I guess if there was a catastrophic regulator failure or so heh. Maybe in rally/race situations this would enable the vehicle to keep moving even with crazy failures and allow the driver to complete the race.

I'm wondering if the tuners are just happy with the current scaling/if it ain't broke don't fix it/or they have had issues with rescaling that table.

Try it out. See if it makes it "easier."

The car cranks at 9v so you need that one. Everything else is open, though the car really is running between 12.7 and 14.1 normally for the outside edges of voltage.

Thanks, that pretty much confirms what I suspected. I'd love to know why Mitsu went with values between 4 and 18 volts. If the ECU is doing a curvefit (presume something like a (non)linear least squares method) confining the data points to the operating range and having them closer together would give a better curvefit.
