Just for clarification the $1k I've spent on tuning this summer was because I've continuously made upgrades...only a $100 bucks of that was for working out few bugs and even then I was adding new parts to try and improve the tune/power/driveability. AWD & Derek have been great - I was just pointing out that I'm a loyal, repeat customer and now I'm motived to learn how to make some of the adjustments myself because it can get expensive.

I have every possible bolt-on/supporting mod/everything is ported...and this is an FP Black on 93oct.

here's a pic of the relevant area of the timing map.

Low octane map is irrelevant as my octane value is at 100.

Look at entry 27-30 on the first log. On line 27 its at 9 degrees and attempts to pull 2 degrees, which it does on the next line, which puts it at 7.
Please stop spreading misinformation.

This has been disassembled already. Every count of knock pulls 90/256* of timing, or roughly 1* per 3 counts of knock.

Not sure why this post was necessary without contacting me first?

I have no problem whatsoever in helping to get the car straightened out. I can tell you i have never sent a car out of the shop with more then a 2 count on back to back pulls. Alot of factors play into a car picking up some knock counts here and there. In this case a simple timing drop of 1-2* will solve the problem.

We have spoke via email after the posting of this thread, so we are on track, but in the future, contact us first. You can see by my email response that i am more then happy to help.

Seems you have a handle on this tuning thing.. Im not sure i understand the title " Pro Tune " but looks F'ed up.. Derek didnt fill my signature by not knowing how to tune to make power safely.. If you are looking for the 0 knock count tune then i am sure he can accomodate you.. I still in 2 years have yet to have 1 customer complain about the power derek made with the car and also NOT 1 car has ever blown up with Derek behind the laptop.. This has to be the 1st thread i can even recall started EVER that questions his tune.. Not to mention i know he spent a good deal of time on your car.. He never rushes EVER..

Have you noticed also the DRASTIC change in weather this week as well.. its probably 20 degrees cooler than it was when you were tuned..

Also, you emailed me about this at 8:24pm and I replied at 8:43.. You didnt even give us a chance to discuss it with you before making this post and while you say your happy with the service here its VERY HARD to understand by your Thread title..

Mike/Derek, tread carefully here as I have done the same. Nothing derogatory has been stated. I've only asked the community for advice as all prior tunes were done by a professional (you) and since I just pulled my first rom I noticed something didn't seem right. I have actually made 3 attempts to call the shop over the last 2 days without anyone answering the phone (I also left a message wanting to purchase a map sensor). I daily drive the car and love to pound on it so my concern is only honest urgency.

You guys are great responding to emails but I didn't know that until now.

Sorry you dont like the thread title and I understand things change with the weather ... it's ashame how things can get so misinterpreted when we communicate via a keyboard vs. a friendly conversation.

I got an email from you guys to help me make some adjustments so I appreciate it.

The logs actually dont look too bad. Couple spots here and there. I say you do what most people are saying and pull 1-2 degrees. I think you might have over reacted with the thread.

A simple adjustment to the AIR TEMP VS. TIMING table can remedy this from occurring again with the weather changes. Derek will take car of you. Nice meeting you at the shootout briefly Derek, I was working on the alt map switch while you battled with the 2150's

Was this on the same tank of gas as when you were tuned? I've noticed a couple bad tanks of gas i've logged 5 counts of knock where, previous logs have been 1-2 on a different tank.

Like Mike said though, it could be the weather too.

If the car is getting little hicups on WOT, the first thing I'd do is change the plugs. Evos seem to go through plugs pretty quicky, and a missfire can show up as a bit of knock. I had exactly the same thing on my newly built engine, changed the plugs, all fine again.

My bad. I've read about that too, but never knew which was true. I have always tuned for zero knock, so in either case it doesn't matter.

for future reference I wouldn't post threads like this because now if anyone tunes you. you're gonna end up with a few degrees and lbs of boost left on the table.

seriously...get out of here. I doubt there are professional tuners scouring the internet, evom or related forums taking notes on people making posts about their tune or related issues so they'll know whom to "not" give a good tune.

The whole purpose of a professional tune IMO is to safely maximize the sum of all the performance parts on the car. Sometimes mistakes are made and/or the conditions significantly change.

Diiik / AWD made a few adjustments to my maps to remedy the counts of knock I was concerned with.

Most of the top Evo tuners are quite active on EvoM...
