*HELP!* Why is my ICS manual button activating EVAP solenoid??
Guys,
I need help. I was noticing the my ICS water level was not going down any, the last few days. Today I tried my manual ICS button, just to confirm everything was okay, and found that it is not actually activating my ICS pump. Traced a clicking sound it made to some type of solenoid at the EVAP canister in the back of the car.
Any idea why my ICS manual button is activating that incorrect solenoid? My car is a 2004 Evo 8, running Tephra's V7 ROM 96530706. I have no idea if the auto function works properly but I assume it doesn't, since my water level hasn't gone down. Please let me know what I can try in order to fix this, or what I changed that might have messed it up in the first place. Id really like to get it sorted out, since I'll be running in a time attack event this Sunday. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bump! Many views but no replys. :-(
Anyone?
Last changes I made was connecting my innovate MTX-L to the rear O2 input of the ecu. Logs fine... I have no idea what to try...

Okay, I did some troubleshooting today and determined that it is definitely something caused from installing Tephra's 96530706 V7 ROM. I flashed the car back to its original ROM, 96420008, and the ICS manual button works perfectly. I then flashed in the original V7 ROM I downloaded, to make sure it wasn't something I changed in the ROM during tuning, and found the same problem where the manual ICS button activates the EVAP canister solenoid.
Guys, any ideas? I really have no clue about how to hopefully fix this...
Thanks for reading along on this issue,

I flashed in ROM 94170715 V7 and my ICS manual button worked as it should. Now, I read in the Tephra thread that both 96530706 and 94170715 work on USDM Evo8's. Now my question is, can I just change ROMs with no problems? I had already tuned my car on the 9653xxxx ROM and even had boost logging, with an omni map sensor, and AFR logging through the rear 02 input.
Please tell me the difference between these two ROMs and if and how should I go about running the 9417xx ROM at my time attack tomorrow.

Thanks for looking!

Believe it or not I was just about to post a thread about this same issue! lol I have the same issue, I switched over to the 9417 rom and the car has a idle issue here and there where it wants to die out. Im sure I could tune it out but I would like to just stick with the 9653 rom.
Does anyone know If i can just re-pin at the ecu by switching the signal for the i/c sprayer to the evap solenoid that is being activated?

Same here! The 9417xxx won't idle like the 9653xxx. I also believe my AFR were a bit leaner, even though I copied over all of my tables. I think I'll just run without the ICS tomorrow and then wait n' see if I can get the 9417 to work better or what.
At least I'm not the only one with this issue...

That's it right there. It doesn't work because the the US '04 is not wired the same as the original 96530006 ecu. I posted about this in the v7 thread about 6 months ago, but gave up and went to 9417XXXX.

Guess I'll have to just switch to the 9417xxx ROM and work on tuning the AFRs and getting the idle correct.
Thanks for pointing that out.
mxguy,
If you try any pin swaps, let me know how you make out.
Thanks again!

Very happy I found this, I was wondering why it stopped working but I recently switched from the 9650 rom to the 9417 rom to support my omni 4 bar so I went outside and sure enough it works again! This is why I love evom!!
