Wierd timing jump: from studder thread: LOG, and IMG of timing map.

Cann anyone tell me what is going on here?
I am having a hard time determining where this odd timing jump is comign from at part throttle. maybe a cam/crank sensor issue?

Things I have done to eliminate: Changed low oct ign maps to the high oct maps, to eliminate the interpolation between two very different maps, no change resulted. I have increased timing in the low RPM ranges at higher loads a bunch, to no avail it comes up with "mysterious" negative timing numbers against my will. Also, the 2000 rpm range is not the only area this happens. I could do the same thing at 3000 rpms aswell. Although, it will come out of it when the RPMS are a few hundred above 3000. If I get stuck in this studder at 2000-3000 rpm, (IX Rs 5spd) I can add TPS to get me out of it. but as soon as I let off to trim speed and retouch the throttle again to keep speed, its back. this is a huge PITA to drive normally. the car can only be driven in "race mode", which doesnt work in the winter, let alone in the summer!!!!! TICKETS@!!

Any new mods before this started happening? Or just all of a sudden?

since day 1 i owned the car its been like this. The previous owner told me it was tuned, when in reality it wasnt. Car had a MBC, TBE, and HKS 272's. Put 324 whp down untuned at STM. I have been unable to determine with any certainty of the temperatures effect on this, however it does seem to get worse when it is colder, and less prevalent when warmer. granted it hasnt been WARM here in a few months... -30 ftw!

Id love to try a different MAF aswell, but with no friends(with evos lol) and a relatively low cash stack, due to layoff, i have to be choosy on which parts I randomly replace. granted I have the cashola to fix a real problem.

14.x just at cruise roughly 60-70 and If you're increasing throttle lightly it dives >10. Which appears to be a function of some whack timing, or maf issues. Tsc, I can pm ya tomorrow when I get to a computer

Hmm, mine does something a bit similar. If I'm in traffic and increase TPS very slightly, afr shoots up to 21. Giving greater throttle inputs doesn't cause this though.

RE the image, upload it to photobucket or imageshack first, then post the link here.

FAA bit 10 "timing knockdown on light acceleration and less than 3000rpm". Put it to 0.

What are your mods, and what octane gas? Your running very low timing.

I cant upload the ROM to the photobucket acct either. The IMG above, should still be legible enough to get the picture.

I am running 1000cc pte injectors, scalled according to the source thread on here. Also, running 93 octane, and hks 272s with a TBE, intake and MBC.

I havent been increasing timing because with wintery roads, its really hard to get a nice pull any where. I am trying to get this thing drivable first and foremost. Regardless, are you speaking of the top end timing? this map is supposed to be my safe map before I start having fun

Going to dig in the peripherary bit asap.

I think FAA 10 fixed it. Just took a cruise went as smooth as can be.. with a crushed IX BOV.

Thanks for the help people!

The LoadMUT2byte seems awefully high for what appears to be cruising at ~2-2.5k considering the ~25% TPS input.

log the knock counts when it happens.

Sometimes, on a few cars, it happend that there was an very high knock count in the area between 2000 and 3800 Rpm.
Knock counts were 30+ counts. ( also tested with 5 deg. less ign. Timing in that area, but no change, Afrīs 14.7 - 12.0 )

It only happened when starting the acceleration below 1700 RPM, regardless of the load. Tps Range more than 40% but less than 95%
if start of acceleration from 2700 rpm, it was not counting any knock at all.

never found out why.
