Ecu Flash noob question
Ecu Flash noob question
Hello All,
I just wanted to get some input from you guru's out there. I am a noob at ECU flashing, I have never done it and I am really interested in learning. I have been reading some of the basics in reflashing. My real question is the equipment and suggestions from your experience would be the easiest route to get started. I was thinking Tactrix 2.0 (I heard some people had problems, but I cant seem to beat people to the punch when finding the 1.3), lc-1 wideband, Ecu Flash, and Evo Scan.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get the the right materials the first go around and not waste any unnecessary funds. I am really ambitious and just want to started data logging and see what I could do. Thanks ahead of time.

Dream team in my opinion is:
1) Evoscan
2) Ecuflash
3) Openport 2.0
4) Zeitronix Zt-2 (wired directly into ECU)
5) Omnipower 4-bar MAP-sensor
6) Grimmspeed 3-port BCS
7) small and light laptop with good battery
8) Tephra v7 ROM from the very beginning
Obviously it is not the best composition in terms of cost-minimization. However, it is great in terms of usability and possibilities you have with this setup.
It is just MHO, so take it FWIW.

All these things are covered very good in topics here by really knowledgeable people, so you will have the process running smoothly after doing some reading.
PS also don't forget to save your current ROM in few safe places so that you always have the maps that are working good with you car

Can you substitute the ZT-3 which only does AFR? Does anyone use the extra features of the ZT-2?
I figured if i'm logging the ZT-3 in evoscan, along with a MAP sensor, why would I use the ZT-2?

ZT-2 has the advantage of the LCD for seeing everything in one place; AFR, EGT (optional), boost (optional), and you can connect a pressure/temp sensor to the USER2 input to have oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, etc.
But isnt the LCD another expensive add on? Those other sensors that need purchased also bump up the price even more. I feel as though a basic wideband with a boost gauge fits my needs.
