Sorry for such a noob question.

I have stock 2005 Evo 8.
Just got my 2.0 tactrix cable and tried to read ecu a few minutes ago. Keep getting "unknown rom" and cant open it or edit.

I appreciate any help.




Oh and I have latest Ecu Flash

Probably has tephramod on it. Download the XML pack.

 

I did download tephra XML last night, and put them in the folder. Havent tried flashing it, wanted stock Rom saved first. Still can't read ecu . I believe that car is bone stock, unless it was well put back together to stock.

Yes it would read it. It would just say you don't have any definitions for that rom if you don't have the proper xml.

 

So do I delete my XML and put tephra XML instead? There is only a few tephra xml's right?

 

No need to delete any xml's, you just need to add the new ones from Tephra.

 

Send me the bin file and I'll open it, figure out what it is, then tell you what you need to do to read it. PM me for my email addy.

 

Ok, before this gets more complicated...is the default XML folder set in ECUFlash? It may simply not be looking where it needs to in order to display the ROM contents.

Also, if ECUFlash gives you an 'unknown ROM' error, that means it's read the ecu properly, and you can still save the ROM file for viewing later. It just means that it cannot 'decipher' the file for viewing in the GUI.

 

ecuflash folders are untouched. Had a friend try to pull it too, and same thing on his laptop.
