High idle on cold start - TephraMod v7
heres a video i made that shows proof my settings work flawless even with my highly modified evo on e85.
ignore all the other random crap i said in the video, i made the video specifically for youtuber's but figured i may as well
post it in here as well to show you guys.
also the engine area is noisey as hell because the stupid invidia o2 housing gasket is leaking.
Also car is running in closed loop. so yes.. the ecu can control big injectors just fine in closed loop.

Awesome. Glad I found this thread. That damn initial 2k idle pisses me off!
Btw what is this shift issue you're talking about tscomp? I think for my shifting style the 941 rom is great. I shift really quickly and I want the rpms to drop fast. I used to get rear diff clunk pulling away from traffic lights on the stock 969 rom cause I was shifting too fast. But thats what I need to do....otherwise I get cut off by minivans in traffic!
I wanted to know did messing with the ISCV table also solve issues with moving from a stop up a hill? I find sometimes on steep hills theres like this lag in response at the critical time right as I get off the gas and start to roll backwards. Not great in Montreal traffic (cabs like to get right on my back bumper)! I usually have to rev high and ride the clutch to avoid that.

I was referring to when you shift your car slow the rpm will drop down to a less suitable shift rpm and cause that little jerk type deal when you shift since the car is not reving high enough to allow the smooth shift. so what you can do is change the desired ISCV neutral so you get a bit of reving with the clutch engaged and that in turn gives you a smooth shift even if you're shifting like a grandma.
i dont shift quick myself, so that was a must do mod for my car lol. but ya if you shift quick and slip the clutch just alittle between shift so the rpm rev's up high enough you can get smooth shifts without the idle air controller assisting you as well.
the uphill thing you speak of sounds like a injector latency issue possibly.. the car slight bogs when you go to give it gas and makes it difficult to start from a hill? i would look into redoing the fuel trims and even rescaling the maf to get everything tightly scaled together the way it should be.

Ah Ok. I understand what you're talking about. Yea usually I naturally shift fast enough that the rate of rpm drop is pretty close to where it needs to be. I can tell from your vid your RPMs drop more like my stock rom. On the stock rom I usually had to wait for the RPMs to drop low enough to engage. Different styles.

Yea I thought it was a MAF scaling issue. Cause at the same time as swapping ROMs I swapped intakes / filters, etc. Stock injectors. But I had a bit of doubt if it was a v7 issue like the high idle.

The ones were talking about in here.. the 2d tables. they make drastic changes once you config them just right for drivability.
what were actually doing is slowing down the iac so it gives a semi slight throttle hang if you will when you clutch in.. it gets rid of the notchy shifting and keep the rpm's from falling so fast

I have the opposite problem - the rpm's stay at whatever rpm I'm at when I clutch in for a fraction of a second instead of dropping. I'd like them to drop faster.
Does it occur if you come completely off the gas before clutching in? Or only when you clutch in as you release the gas? (ie. what most people do on a regular shift)
That was most of the problem I had when I was shifting normally with the stock rom.
to fix that (actual throttle hang) you have to go into the 3d table (Idle Stepper Look up Table) and lower the numbers.. theres a huge thread on the forum here how to fix it.
I don't the two phenomena are related, if Raptord is talking about what I think he's talking about. Throttle hang happens after a pull, when you go through the high load values. The revs drop reeeaally slow until about 2.5kish. That can be fixed with adjusting values in the Idle Stepper table. I followed Merlin's guide and values to do that.
The slight hang between normal shifts is a bit different. Like you're accelerating away and shift at like 4k, it holds revs at 4k for just under one second before letting it drop normally. I thinks that needs adjustments to the ISCV tables.

I've also had the high idle on cold start problem for a while now. The other day I was going to record a video of my cold start to post here, so I turned off the HVAC fan in case I wanted to talk. I started the car and expected the idle to climb, but it didn't. Perplexed, I turned the fan (not the AC, just the fan) back on and lo and behold, the idle jumped to ~2100. Turned the fan off and it went back where it was supposed to be.
