I´ve got an Evo VII and got me thinking about it´s ECU.

The 8 ECU has more features and software features than a 7 ECU. Is it worth a "upgrade"?

Also, my VII got ACD/AYC. The engine ECU has anything to do with the transmission? I researched but couldn´t find any clue. Not a single wire on the diagrams.

You can put the 9653 rom into the evo 7 from what I heard but it has its own set of difficulties .

I've never seen a JDM pinout so I can't say if your ECU does control the ACD/AYC in any case. If you want to see just find a pinout for your car and look for ACD AYC in the pin descriptions somewhere. If there is no wire the ECU can't control it just that simple .

The ECU can control an automatic transmission but generally it just looks at sensors on the transmission like heat and speed to deduce action in the car if the sensor even is available.

pin 87 ayc/acd signal in .There are no advantages to switching to later ecu or rom only disadvatages like idle hang , bad throttle response .

90550001 version V7 should be out soon. then you can have all the features the other V7 ROMs have.

ive converted 5 or 6 evo 7 to 9653 with no issues after all tweaks were completed.. but as someone else mentioned, tephra is working on a rom specifically for the 7's right now and its very close to being completed.

The v7 Tephra 90550701 IS being tested and sorted out for E7 ecu, so I say keep. Don't use 9653 ROM. I've only had problems with it.

The ACD/AYC is a separate unit but it does communicate with the the ECU. It even programmable.
