Timing vs MPG (Closed Loop)
the pump failling, or not providing enough pressure will not hurt anything, and you can drive with the 3 lights on without issue.
i had a pump that in above 80 degree weather couldnt create enough pressure, did that for like 4 months, then someone hit the car ad wrecked the pump anyway so i got a new one.
back on topic, i did 24mpg back to back on two 200 mile trips this weekend (all highway). could still add more timing. this is also with a flaky front o2 sensor. so all in all not that bad imho.
With the help of Raptord, my map looks like this now. I am getting nowhere close to his mileage mpg though.
Evo 8 - 93* fuel, Bbk Full / / OEM Long Block (Kelfords 272s)
Round 1
Test 1: 20.3 mpg (10-16-2011)
Test 2: 17.5 mpg (10-28-2011)

Right now I'm keeping my current map and will do some testing to cruise with slightly higher rpms as opposed to keeping it as low as possible in my previous driving habbits.
90% of the time I drive very conservatively on the street - that may be part of the reason we aren't getting the same mileage. On my last tank I did do a few good pulls and I had 20.1mpg I think.
I cruise at 32 no EGR 22 mpg. stock narrow band cl control. Im gonna play with getting a little more timing in my set up. id like to see 24+
No egr, because I have a skunk 2 intake manifold

@acidtronic, nice expanation of the center diff.
is there any logic to inducing knock at cruise with too high timing or too lean an AFR? Some of you have really high timing at cruise to do this but are you inducing knock? if not why wouldn't the timing be super high in that area stock? What is the compromise?
I have Ben pulling timing because of cruise knock, but am getting 25 mpg on long flat stretches of highway driving.

On another note I was thinking even my moderate timing is causing cruise knock, which is at 70 load, so even more timing from EGR would theoretically be even worse, correct.
