i dont have a temp folder or sub folder in any of the folders in the program. i do have a backup001 and backup002. the 002 folder has all the same subfolders as the rommetadata folder.

is this the folder your saying to try and delete?

edited: i tried deleting the files in the backup folder and got the same message so i just copied them back in to their original place.

no, those are normal from re-installing the program but you could delete them just to make sure it's not trying to read from something old that's messed up.

Before I reinstall ecuflash I manually delete the folder even after doing a re-install so there's nothing left of it for what it's worth.

is it possible that when i messed with the xmls the first time trying a tephra patch that it messed up the files in the metadata and now everytime i re download the program it just puts the corrupted files back in? im out of ideas and throwing something out there.

it could be something like that, I've had times where no matter what I changed in the XML it wasn't showing up in ecuflash. It turned out to be reading an xml file from another location of the same name. Once I deleted the old copy, presto, all of the things I was looking for FINALLY showed up.

worst case bring the car/ecuflash here and I'll either tune it for you or fix your ecuflash so you can lol

one last ditch effort i can think of before giving up, is if someone is willing and kind enough to send me a copy of their standard rommetadata folder. specifically the evo subfolder with all the standard xmls from ecuflash so i can compare to my folder and backup002 folder to see if maybe for some reason they are not the same. and to see if for some reason my computer keeps throwing in corrupted files or something. it would be greatly appreciated.

Mellon, you did enough by taking the time to send the stock rom for me to try to open. thank you for doing that because you didnt have to.

and thanks Eric. just got your email. im in the process now of going through every file in my laptop MANUALLY, and deleting anything to do with ecuflash, evoscan, openecu, and any roms except the stock 8 rom Mellon Racing was kind enough to send. when i finish im re downloading the program, ill download the metadata file you just sent and sit and compare all night long if i have to, or i may just try to delete the metadata folder, copy in the one you sent over and see if it fixes the problem. GOD I HOPE THIS WORKS.

well i donno wtf i did, but something worked. i just finished manually going through everything on my computer and erasing everything down to the freakin bookmarks in my browser and even the search history. redownloaded version 1.42, redownloaded the stock rom mellon sent, then figured what the hell ill try to open it and watch that pretty little message pop up saying ef you, but it opened in ecuflash with all the tables and everything.

thank you everyone for all the help two times lol. now im going to make sure i do tons more research before i start messing with the xml's again and screwing with s**t to avoid this again.

I haven't bailed on you yet buddy. We need to solve why you can't save attachment .xml's when i send them to you. If you have solved this issue, please disregard. Raptord, I tried to send him several .xml's, his antivirus or a firewall is blocking them and stripping them from the email. Let me know guys, im still here, just working on my project.

when you email an .xml file rename it first and remove the .xml part so his email program will let it through. Then he can save the file and put the .xml back on the end of it so it will work.

Or place it in a zip archive. That's what I sent to Curtis and it appears to have worked.
