evoscan ?

I tried doing my first logs today....my knock was reading 38-55 and my timing was 15-22..it wouldn't log tps, buy rpm was dead on

I uninstalled it and installed 2.8 instead of 2.9 bc there seems to be more info on it in the forums search....but just incase it happens again what would be the problem????

Evo 8 is running 22 psi down to 20

Ok update! I re installed 2.9 and it is working fine. Somthing must have happened in my first install of it....the force closing from the first install has ceased as well

If evoscan is reading that much knock then you got issues my man. Boost leak test the car before you even think of making another pull. Make sure everything is tight and the knock sensor is calabrated correctly.

Well I don't know if it was reading right...because the request ID on evoscan 2.8 is 26 and it was 17 on 2.9

Think of it this way, your seeing alot of knock, your not sure wtf is going on you have an expensive toy your driving now ask yourself this. Is it worth possibly explodeing the motor being a simple boost leak test could probabily answer the question? I mean it could be an error in evoscan but why risk it. Hell I think I am using 2.6 still and it works fine. A tuner will be able to calabrate the knock sensor once you get the car tuned.

I went and bought a boost leak tester today....so trust me I take car of my toys...i've just cheaper dsm before(2g x 7) lol....
I appreciate all the help...but I fully plan on timing my own car since I feel like I understand how the basics of octane tables and timing tables function in ecuflash....the only reason I re-installed it is bc I had read that windows 7 somtimea has trouble......ill try it Tommorw and just let the car idle and see what knock says......bc even idle was 35 before ....

So since im tuning myself ( bc im pretty much stock ) that's why I asked how to calibrate ....sorry for the long explanation

Its hard for anyone to give a real answer without seeing a log or just post your timing map. If you have 15-22 timing with 20psi and 93 octane , then that is very real knock .

On my friends dsm 2g ....gis knock showed 35-38 as well with a timing of 4-8 at idle.....but all aside that aside....if the new program works and actually shows zero knock at idle...you guys think I should give a 3rd gear log?

Alright fella's Just tried evoscan agin to see if this version worked.....
sat at idle, drove around, and boosted up to 15psi in 3rd and backed off.
in the end it O !!! knock sum. i was happy!! so ill do a 3rd gear pull later tonight when i dont have my daughter in the car.

BUT!! my timing is never lower than 8 really and somtimes reads up to 42

at 4200rpm when i got into boost a little it was 27 then as i slowly let of it came down to 24-28 cruising in 1st amd 2nd

but all in all zero knock

There's no question in your last post...

If you're wondering about your timing numbers, 42° while cruising is normal. WOT timing should be roughly ~3 degrees at 3500rpm and peak boost, and increase gradually to ~10-12° at 7k.

Start by just pulling the map off the car and taking a look at it and making sure everything looks at least reasonable before doing anymore WOT pulls.
