You want to use an e8 ecu. Is this because it is readily available in the states or because of tuning ease? Is there a reason why you would not use a lower model ecu? I think it would make this swap just a tiny bit easier. I realize the lower ecu have less info available, however pinouts are still out there. There is a lot less "extra stuff" on the E6 vs E8. In fact it is 10 pins unused less.

I chose the evo 8 ecu because it's cheap and my buddy has an evo 8 and I can try it without buying.

I just found this thread. I modified the 3sgte distributor to put out the proper signals for an Evo ECU a little over a year ago.

heloboby, I thought you had seen this thread since your post on MR2OC was so related to this. I'm keeping an eye on both threads to see if anyone happens to come up with anything =)

Looks like he already has come up with something?

The MR2 guys need a cheap tuning option with decent logging like nobodies business. That community would see a massive jump in performance capability.

Evo VIII ecu to power a gen4 3SGTE

What Im going to attempt is using an Evo VIII ecu to power a gen4 3SGTE. The engines are very similar, both are two liter and turbo charged. I have a mild build and I do not plan to make big power. So buying a full standalone would not be worth it to me.

I have the pin out for both ecu's so the wiring shouldn't be too bad.The intake air temp sensor and map sensor already have patches for GM sensors. All the other miscellaneous sensors can be swapped for evo counterparts worse case. But I do not know what im going to do about the crank and cam sensors.

I already have crank and cam sensors because it came factory coil on plug. Is there a way to modify what the ecu is looking for as far as teeth on the trigger?

Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

Did you get it to work? i want to try it
