Evo 8 not starting with new crank and cam sensors

I had codes for cam and crank sensor and it would cause occasional stalling and no start conditions so i bought a new cam and crank sensor and the car wont start at all now. I thought the crank sensor i instqlled was bad so i put the old one back in and stil no start. Put the old cam sensor and same thing. Theyre both getting power signal and ground so idk whats going on, i didnt touch anything else while installing the sensors.

Every single fuse is good in the car. Checked one by one with a test light.

Have you ever done the cams?

I would check the pick up attached to the rear of the cam to start. I've seen some loose that cause weird problems.

Cams never ever touched. Its a stock motor. The thing though that is happening that is wierd. Is that I tried plugging in a scanner into the obd2 port and the CEL would shut off and the scanner would never get a chance to scan the ECU.

When I turn the ignition off and back on the CEL will come back on but if I try to scan it again it will turn off.
I think this is what is happening when it tries to start- the ECU shuts off. Any idea as to what can be causing this.

Fuses can be tricky. The element can crack or the solder can melt at the base and when viewing the element through the window, the fuse looks fine.

If using a test light, check for power at both terminals. The hot could be at other than where you think it is.

I prefer to pull each fuse and check it with an ohm meter. Then tap it on a hard surface a couple of times and check again. This also gives one the chance to observe the terminals for signs of overheating.

Did u ever figure this out?

My car does almost the same changed both sensors it starts up the dies couple seconds later because it stops sending pulse to injectors. I'm lost only 3 things to my knowledge crank or cam sensor or ecu.
2004 evo 8. 3
weeks it's been like this. Also changed fuel pump notice some melting at top of fuel pump wire harness.

Hi all wondering what your solutions were to this problem? my evo 8 is going through the exact problem. I’ve swapped both cam and crank sensors with new OEM and still no start

#1 fuses
#2 remove the clutch switch plug so you dont have to press he clutch to start
#3 make sure the trigger plate is not touching the sensor. I had a similar no-start issue way way back. out of desperation, I smashed a couple of washers to add under the sensor in order to center the trigger. and it worked. no idea why

my buddy found the issue there was corrosion build up in the relays in the thin fuse box solved the problem completely. It’s now good as new

nope it was a crank no start problem, the cam and crank sensor was only getting 3 volts through the constant 12v wire. So starter and everything else was working fine but wasn’t sending fuel or spark due to not enough power for the sensor. Cleaned the relays and then got full 12v again to both sensors
