Yes you need a properly installed air temp sensor to have SD work properly. It is one of the 2 major components required for proper SD calculations. Right now every air temp compensation table in your ecu thinks the ice age is upon us and is compensating your fuel, timing and ecu controlled boost for these sub-artic conditions lol. A GM IAT sensor and weld-on bung are about $25USD.

You would be better off having the air temp sensor outside the engine bay reading outside ambient temperature than you would be having nothing connected at all.

Thanks guys . I was just about ready to give up on the CEL. Guess most of the support is for the USDM evos and not so much the JDM. Glad some of you still have the JDM evos! Anxious to see how the car will react because it drives pretty damn well as is

BTW all the documentation on the forum is for the USDM evos. Can you tell me which wires from the MAF sensor connector do I need to tap into for IAT?.
