ECUFlash for FR-S BRZ?

Gents,

I know this is a longshot, but I haven't seem much movement in other forums, and I don't have the tools that many of the developers have.

That being said, this section (and evoxforums) have been the most active regarding ECUflash in general and I was wondering if anyone here would like to take on the challenge of cracking the FR-S/BRZ ECU (it's been done by ECUtek already).

Some notes that I've been able to discern so far:

--The ECU is on a CAN bus and it's based on one of the EURO4 or 5 diesel subaru ECUs
--Allegedly, ECUtek used the same decryption to break this as they did on the '10 turbodiesel scoob
--ECU flash can read some standard diagnostics from the ECU, but cannot do read/write.

Hopefully the gurus here can figure this out, because there is a huge market for this car, and open a new community of tuners up to ECUflash.

I dont think it is worth the hassle in it's current form (N/A).... but when it's gonna be FI, it would drain more knowledgeable people hopefully.

There are a lot of maps controlling the BRZ/FR-S stuff. I have access to the ECUtek software and have started with the NA tuning. There are definitely some gains to be had even as an NA car but most of them are past 6000. The main thing is the torque dip still doesnt seem to be something you can tune out. Maybe if I spend more time with it but the one I had on the dyno (Nameless Performance's BRZ) was making me work for it for the few hours we had it.

I know john's got several turbo 86s running and has somehow tuned out the torque dip. I'll bet it has something to do with the AVCS timings causing a lean condition from overlap and timing getting pulled like on the EVOs.

John, could you PM me about shop/enterprise pricing on ECUtek? I'm looking into branching out to ECUtek. I really like the things they are doing.

If you read the BRZ forums in depth you can tune out the torque dip per the ECUtek guy's comments. I read it, can't quote it, or be any more specific than that :P

Heh, you could, but I know what you're talking about now. Too bad You have to buy into the ECUtek master tuner program to do any of your own tuning.

I believe Cobb already has a BRZ ECU and is preparing for the turbo model in 2014. I'm well aware of the rift between Accessport and ECUFlash, but it'll at least allow for individual tuning in standard form unlike ECUTek.

wasn't aware of that... I thought Tephra was working for COBB?

any more news on the 2014 turbo model?

The biggest problem with BRZEdit is still requiring a "license" in order to access the pcm.

At least with ECUFlash the tuning software is free and universal, vise spending $400 just access the factory pcm, and only that one pcm.

The TQ curve **** blocks me far to often in my BRZ.
