We all know the stock ECU locks the ignition timing at 5* BTDC while the starter is cranking. Has anyone found the parameter in the ROM to change this value? I can test 9417 rom right now.

This is only active while the starter wire gets signal on the ECU. You might be able to backtrack the code from the 'IPW while cranking' table we use for the main/alt maps.

I had a def for the "start ignition map" given to me A LONG time ago but I never tested it. I will see if I can track it down, I think it was in one of my old versions like 1.29 or 1.30.

I messed the def up at some point and dont seem to have it anymore. I think it was posted on Active Matrix in a question almost exactly like this that I had made or Luke made. I may have it in a PM there...I dont even know if that site is still up.

 

Out of curiosity why would this need to be increased? Hot start? Or just overall better starting?

 

Faster/easier starting on certain cam configurations or on E85.
