So a friend dropped in some FIC Blue Max 2150cc injectors. We were dialing them in and got the Fule Trims within 5%. We decided to switch from the stock 05 Evo9 GRS JDM 88570008 ROM to the Tephra V5.10 (there is no V7 for this rom yet) to adjust the tune. Ported over the maps and injector scalings, then flashed the TephraMOD V5.10. All appeared good. Took a quick spin with the car to fine tune and test everything. Thought we could tighten down the injector scalings a bit more but now the ECU flash refused to read or write. Fearing the worst, I made sure the car would start (it did). Switched the cable from an OpenPort 1.3u to a (previously working on this car/laptop/software combo) 2.0 and still nothing. We uninstall ECU flash and the Tatrix drivers, rebooted, did a registry cleanup, reboot and a ECUFlash re-install and final reboot. Still nothing. As a last ditch attempt we tried reading the ECU with the 1.3u and EvoScan 2.9. IT WORKED. Tired back ECUFlash and nothing. I don't know what made me flash back to the stock ROM but now ECUFlash can read and Write to the ECU again.

Any thoughts as to why this would happen or how to fix it? I would really like to get him back on a TephraRom.

seems to me both use the same mitsukernel flash method. What is Evoscan doing differently?

 

Try an older version of ecuflash.m, one that is known working with tephra v5. It may be a compatibility issue between the xml files.

Use an older version of EcuFlash, like 1.43.3000 for favorite.

The new versions are fragile/temperamental., ie a pain in the ****.
