At a loss with Knock Sensor. Constant 8-9 under minimal/all loads
At a loss with Knock Sensor. Constant 8-9 under minimal/all loads
Hello all,
I'm having some knock sensor issues. I've pretty much verified its false via adding octane fuel from 91 to 98. My issues are:
Constant knock in any gear at any load over 2000rpm. Always 8-9 counts. Never more or less.
I've tried adjusting the Knock load values from 0 to 159 with no change.
This is on a recently turboed 4G64.
AFR's are good and Hi ignition values are reasonable. It switching to the low octane values just before showing knock
Thanks in advance

Your knock sensor is bad or unplugged. That's how the ecu responds when it doesn't get a signal form the knock sensor. You should eventually get a check light for the knock sensor.
I have a sensor off the spare motor I have, i will swap them and see! Thank you
Did this problem just start? Or you flashed over and it was boned from GO?
Car has / was running fine with old rom, this motor is new, etc? Background info can help others narrow down the direction they point you in.
Recently turbo'd, and currently about to blow apart engines make a lot of knock when things aren't right. Like when the bearings are in your oil pan.
I have had things as stupid as a T-bolt clamp touching the exhaust manifold and tinging just ever so slightly at certain RPM throw a ton of knock on a car before. So check all your rattly bits as well. Your old rom probably doesn't look at knock as uhm, seriously as one from an Evo. If the sensor is bad it will do exactly what it is doing tho.

have you verified the ecu pinout is the same between your stock ecu and the ecu from which the rom you are using came from? Just wondering if maybe the ecu is looking for the knock sensor on a different pin.
Thanks for the help. Ended up being a cut wire for the knock sensor. What was weird is I had no code/knock on the stock rom for 10k miles. It all happened when i loaded the tephra rom.
Strange as day but at least i can log knock now. Aha.
Thanks for the help! Great forum!
