Unknown ROM - Ecuflash

Hey Everyone,

So, i just got my 1.3U cable today and as I was downloading my cars current ROM file and i got an error that said Unknown Rom File. All I can do is save it as an .SRF file. So, I was looking around and many people suggested that you should download the Tephramod V7 .xml files and drag them over into your rommetadata folder, etc... And, welp, still got the same unknown ROM message. So, now im kinda stuck.... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

I am going through this exact problem with my 2003 evo right now. I just bought this car with a blown head gasket and now I'm trying to pull the map from the car and I am unable to log on the ecu. What should I download? Any links would be appreciated. I am currently using ecuflash and evoscan to try to connect but neither one is working. Its been some years since I've messed with the stock ecu cars.

You have to download the tephra v7 files and put it in the ecuflash - rommedata - Mitsubishi- evo folder. To be honest the way I got it to work was restoring my computer because I used to have it set up. Lol

Hello Everyone,
I'm also getting an UNKNOWN ROM error and need help finding the definitions for it. EcuFlash is reading a .sfr file. I'm using a Tactrix OP 2.0 cable. The car is an 2003 Evo 8 USDM and was recently tuned. Please see zip file attached.

TIA for your help!

Shoot me a PM. I can email you the files you'll need to paste into where you have saved "Open ECU" under Rommetadata>Mitsubishi>Evo. Then when you read your ECU, it'll bring it up your ROM Image.

File was "locked" by adding a 104 Byte header - probably by the tuner. I have stripped the header and reset the id to 94170715 at byte 0xf52 - because this is what it looks like -

I'm trying to make changes to log 2byte load, but it's giving me an error message about not having permission after I make those changes. Could you PM me where you made the change to unlock it? I'm just not getting it. Thanks!
