Also if they are only referencing last year’s results and you have made any changes to the rom I assume that would cause a fail?

That is part of the big question that I am asking which is why I can see either "setup" failing - stock or not. According to someone else's post, changing the immobilizer does not alter CVN. I also do not have my original, so that would be disabled regardless of going back to stock ROM.

I posted this up before but changing immobilizer code does not affect CVN or CAL. I tested and confirmed this, also passed state ref legitimately.

I totally forgot about this, but FWIW, I helped a friend/client pass with his IX GSR this past December. He had been on my same Tephra V7 tune for almost five years. The only changes made prior were correcting monitors and slight adjustment to smoothing. Everything went well at a random non-star station.

If I had to guess, any stricter tests will occur this year, but if I am wrong, then they just want to see satisfactory values. It still makes you wonder though... 🤔

Has anyone here successfully recovered a missing, or reconfigured a new immobilizer code for an Evo 9? Mine was lost by the previous owner(s) and is currently on a bypass via the flipped FAA bit, which I'm sure won't pass the state ref. I was told a MUT3 would be able to reconfigure the immobilizer ECU to remarry it with the engine ECU again. Just want to confirm if this is true.

Based on that Doc though currently it is only the Ref that checks the Cal ID / CVN. The causes of getting flagged to the ref are spelled out on page 5 as 1. Engine Change 2. Law Enforcement Citations for modified vehicles and 3. Referee directed vehicles with mismatched OBD Profiles.

It says proposed for July 2020, not sure if that's still going through or not, but it would appear that people getting flagged to the Ref are for reasons other than Cal ID / CVN for the time being.

That’s how I read it as well. So Improper monitors get you ref and ref gets you on cvn/cal Id.

Thank you for this.

The CVN & CAL ID checks was already in effect last year when I went to CA ref.
But it seems like it was just trickling down to certain stations a,I talked to others who passed ref with mismatched CVN's. About 1-2years ago.

Has any one talked with any of the major tuners out here. Like RRE? I wonder if they have any solution to this yet.

I had RRE tune when I got smogged in 2018. The State has my tune and the reff told me that I was tuned for E85 and my EGR was turned off. That was enough for me to go back to stock everything. My guess is they downloaded everyone's tunes when they were smogged.

Did the Ref tell you that after plugging into your ecu?

We have to show proof that our cars are corrected before they give you an appointment to bring car for reff inspection. I sent pictures of dealer reprogram and odb2 scanner reading showing all monitors passed. He was upfront when we spoke and the only way they have my tune is from my smog check in early 2018.
