Able to ECUFlash along with AP?
Hi, I'm new here and relatively new to the Evo community. I bought my 13' GSR in February and it came with some mods. Me being me and coming from a 17' STi I knew how important a tune was so I ordered an AP hooked it up and found out that the car had 1000cc injectors (way too tired). So it fell on its face almost immediately even using the OTS stage 3(temporary). So I go home, take the course to get accesstuner and get my car relatively dialed in. Having done some research I've noticed that ECUFlash along with the tephra mod enables more maps, more granular data and the ability to enable brake boosting(I want to get my fueling solid) I am learning how to tune and taking very small baby stepa. I'd rather not lose the ap as I like the live data it allows me to utilize so I can make quick assessments on car health. Long story short, do I need to unmarry the accesport to use ecuflash or can I use them in conjunction?
Yes, unfortunately, the AP stuff needs to go for ecuflash to work. However, you can get the EvoScan software which allows you to monitor all the engine data you prefer in real time, and save it as log files. It also has live map tracing and a custom gauge dashboard tool. In addition, the tactrix openport 2.0 connectors, now have a built in micro sd card slot for standalone data logging. One other cool thing, is on EcuFlash, when you get the TephraMod v3, you can download his live tuner, which gives you the ability to not only data log in real time, but also tune a few maps live while the engine is running. For instance, you can change your high octane fuel and ignition tables, boost tables, mivec tables, injector latency, injector scaling, wgdc, and a few others. Its pretty awesome because you get a live map tracer so you can see exactly where the engine is in the given map, then change the value in any specific cell, and monitor the results in real time. IMO, with the combination of Ecuflash w/tephra, and evoscan, theres no need for the AP any longer. Having learned ecuflash myself, to me, the AP is sort of a device for ppl who wanna change their factory tune, but arent interested in getting into the actual tuning. I know theres stuff you can do with them to make fine adjustments, but the openport system with evoscan gives you full access to the ecu. You can data log everything, including most wideband o2 sensors, see it in real time, and with tephra v3, you get multiple maps that can be switched on the fly, no lift shift, launch maps, gear based mivec, direct pressure based boost control, top speed limiter removal, live tuning, e85 flex fuel tuning, and the ability to switch back to stock at any time, without any trace. Plus, it can be done with a windows based laptop that has a usb port. Hopefully you got something out of this. Good Luck.
