Cobb and Protune after, Why?

Big Newb question for me at least.
I'm sorry but I don't understand if someone can please explain.

I'm interested in getting the new accesport V3, everyone knows the cost.
Besides data logging and some gauges, why is everyone buying a Cobb if your still getting a Protune?
I'm reading a lot of posts and guys having issues with the Cobb tune, everyone recommends them to get a pro tune.
Is the accesport used for just basic boltons only? Cams, bigger injectors, Bigger turbos?
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having the Cobb Accesport??

The reason I bought the AP is because it first off allowed me to change my tune while my car was completely stock. I was pretty impressed with the stage 1 stock tune.

Afterwards I installed my intake, CBE, FMIC, and UICP. I then had my DP installed and flashed to the stage 2 tune.

Afterwards I installed my fuel pump and had my tuner install my injectors and 3port, and then had a protune. But I had a dual tune done and both tunes were done on my cobb AP device. So if I want to flash between the two tunes or ever return back to stock, I will still need my AP to do this.

But yes, if you want to get a protune and plan on installing your bolt-ons right before the tune, you don't need to waste the money on the AP. I think though that alot of people get the AP and only plan on using the stage 1 tune and to be happy with that. But ultimately the mod bug gets them and they purchase more bolt-ons and decide to get a protune for max results.

The nice thing about the AP is that it is compact, and very convenient. Many people say to skip the AP and use open source, but for me, I went with the AP simply because I love the ability to change tunes on the fly without carrying a laptop around with me. I like the data monitoring in small form, and I did use it while my car was stock for a while before I started modding.

The AP is really just a convenience you pay for, and many people would say save your money and use open source. Either way will be effective for a pro tune, which of course you will want once the mods start piling on, it just depends what you want to tote around in your car with you.

Ended up buying the V3 along with some sweet mod goodies, yum yum yum!
Definitely going for a Protune shortly.
