Proper Tuning Order?
Proper Tuning Order?
Hello All,
About a year ago, I switched from my stock rom to V7 SD & installed my ID2000's at the same time. After a bunch of learning thanks to this forum & many revisions the car is currently running better than it ever has, but because so many things control fuel trims between SD & scaling injectors I'm not sure if everything was done in the proper order.
I wasn't able to scale the injectors using JohnBradleys settings & ended up with a high base fuel pressure ( 44-45 psi w/ vacuum connected which is like ~55base psi ) to get everything to run smooth. My low & mid trims are both +/- 5 now & my scaling is set to 1170 for e85.
Was I supposed to scale the ID2000's first with the stock tephra V7 SD settings, then go after SD stuff? Or the other way around? I believe I was going back and forth between the 2 to end up where I am now. Again, the car drives fantastic, I just dont know if I would have ended up with different settings had I done things in a different or "proper" order.
Thanks!

There is no right way to tune. Starting with injector scaling and short term fuel trims is important, otherwise you will not have a stable tune longer term and could end up chasing your tail.
If the car runs well, fuel trims are +/-5%, and the fuel map isn't maxed out lean or rich to get proper AFR at WOT, I'm not sure what the concern is?
There's not real order to tuning. And the MAP/VE and RPM/VE tables aren't a rigid hard value that works on every car. Everything tends to get tweaked as you go.
