Switching to SD and want to save the mass air tune I paid for from a dyno tune.
It seems to let me download, but does not seem to recognize what it is reading (wrong ROM file??)
I tried several of the USDM EVO8 files listed here. https://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/Downloads.
I can't post tune here, as it is a vendor's and against forum rules.
Only reason I may probably go back to mass air is if I sell car at some point. I can't go back to a stock type tune then,
as I have too many mods (including cams). My question is, even though EVOscan does not recognize what it downloaded.
If I someday put back exactly what I downloaded, will it give me back that mass air tune and run just like it did before I "wrote"
over it for new SD tunes?
Your tuner may have modified the section of the ROM that refers to the ROM ID. For ex, I've attached my Evo 9 ROM Hex.
That's what lets ECUFlash know which ROM xml file to try and use. When a tuner wants to avoid you looking at it, they'll change it to FF FF FF FF or something. So you can download/re-flash it just fine, but ECUflash doesn't know how to parse it. You should open the stock evo 8 ROMs in hXd, find the ROM ID, then open your ROM, and look at that address to see what it's set to.
